  1. Hello, I am looking to buy a road bike and need help with id and decision making. I like how this peugeot looks and it seems to be my size (Frame size 60cm, am 185cm). Price offered is 250 Euro (~265usd). Id love to get some more info about it before buying, thanks! 🙂

Brake pads are technically the wrong ones but if it works…

The overall bike looks like it was ridden quite often and “updated”

The frame itself is on the lower end for Peugeots.

Haggling a bit might be advised.

  3. It’s not a high end collectable bike, but if everything is ready to ride and you’re looking for a simple solid bike, you can do worse. If you start with something that needs tires and brake pads and bar tape, that’s $100. A low end new bike in a bike shop is over $1,000. I sold Peugeots 40 years ago. The Carbolite frames are their low end tubing, but it’s high tensile steel that’s about 1.2 mm thick if I remember correctly. It’s not bad, you can do better for more money, but you can do much worse.

  4. Looks well maintained, but like others said, entry level from the time. 150-200 just because it looks in good condition and has some upgrades, like the saddle. This is assuming everything is in good working condition and won’t need much work or parts on your part.

  5. just here to say what i always say, avoid french bikes. they really jumped in on the whole 80s bike boom and mass produced a ton of crappy lower end bikes, and even the nicer made ones have issues thanks to needing proprietary french components such as bottom brackets and headsets yadda yadda. if you plan on keeping it a long time and putting work in, its always better to go with something more standardized like japanese, american, english made bikes

I don’t feel like doing the conversions, and my info isn’t directly relevant to you. But locally I know their are 8 Peugeots in the $150 to $200 (usa) range.

  7. That bike is tog welded, likely gas pipe tubing, and likely needs a complete overhaul of bearings etc…..

I know the size is less common, so you’re going to likely pay a premium just due to lack of supply….but I would try to talk him down to $125 max.
