Sorry if this isn’t the place for bicycle repair questions but how do I fix this my bro tried using the barrel adjuster and totally got the adjuster off the handle lever lol.i tried placing it back in but it won’t screw back into place now it just hanging off and it takes barely any force to brake the front tire lol .how would I fix this should I take it to the shop? if so how much will cost or is it a easy at home fix.also would it be safe to ride to the bike shop as mines about 15 blocks away and walking with my bike would be a drag lol

You should be safe to carefully ride the bike to a repair shop so long as your rear brakes are still working, it’s not terribly expensive to buy Shimano brake handles, or difficult to replace them, but going to a shop is a good idea if you are not mechanically inclined. If they aren’t busy and glcqn get to it while you wait, ask to watch, most places won’t mind as long as you aren’t being a nuisance.
As for price, that’s mostly going to be down to how long it takes the technician, you should be able to call and ask the shop for an estimate.
It looks to me like he opened the housing for the handle, and hasn’t properly closed it back up, it may just be a matter of tightening the right screws to close it back up.
