Please help! I might have a tantrum on my hands if I don’t get this straight.

I put together the Dynakraft Barbie 16 inch girls bike for my little girl turning 4 tomorrow, and something is wrong. I’m really hoping it’s something I can fix and not something I have to take to the store and wait for a return or something.

Please excuse my lack of proper terminology. There is something wrong with the crank. There is a friction, a resistance, (very noticeable) as you pedal but especially as 12 o clock position with the bike upside down and then the loud click/ clang when it hits the 9 o clock and is inline with the chain.
Sound appears to be coming from the front pedal area and not the rear hub.

It always happens when the pedal hits that same spot each revolution.

Any ideas to fix it?

Need quick help for kids birthday present.

    I would guess that the chain tension is too tight, anyway to slide the rear wheel forward in the drop outs a little?

    Isn’t this the type of bike that should have a coaster brake? How many handlebar brakes are there? I believe by law it must have two handlebar brakes or a coaster brake. I don’t know if it’s an issue with the coaster brake. First things first, grab a screwdriver and get the chain guard off of there and see if you can actually locate what is making the noise. 

    The other suggestion about chain tension and adding a tiny amount slack by loosening the rear axle nuts and repositioning the rear wheel in the drops is a great starting suggestion.

    The chain does feel pretty tight. So that could definitely be the issue. I have a 10 speed white a tensioner and when ever it needs something I take it to a shop. lol. I don’t know anything other than how to ride it

  4. Too tight. Chainrings of this quality are hardly ever concentric and will have “tight” spots in its revolution. You can address this by adjusting the tight of the chain at the rear dropouts.
