You may be able to get away with removing 1 link (one pair of narrow and wide section) if you’re current chain length and bike/drivetrain combination can accommodate a 1 link shorter chain. Sometimes this will affect shift performance in some gears, but that also depends on the variables mentioned. If you post a picture of your drivetrain with the chain in the largest gear combination it can probably be determined if there is enough chain to allow for it to be shortened 1 link.
