$500 in 1987 is probably right. I paid $700 for my Rockhopper in 1986. Big purchase for a raggedy new geologist. But 2k nowâŚno way. âextra security measuresâ is a nice touch.

Dude even lists several parts as just “Shimano” or generic/unsure. If you are going to make a big deal about having perfect parts, at least know what they are.

Are the housings supposed to be crossed like that where they meet the stops at the top of the downtube? Wouldn’t that cause unnecessary friction?
