Hello all! I want to take my cassette off my wheel and I can’t seem to do it… I watched the park tools tutorial on this on YT, and I’m aware that there are 2 different types of tools, one for a freewheel and one for cassettes. As far as I can tell based on what the tutorial said, I have a cassette. I have bought a tool for removing/installing cassettes, and it worked as expected with my indoor trainer that came without a cassette and I used this tool to install one. But I’m trying to remove the cassette from my wheel, and it seems that the center axel has a nut, that is slightly too big and it slightly protrudes, and the tool can’t get over it, so it doesn’t even reach the lockring.. I’m I missing something?

Yeah you need to buy a different brand of cassette tool. I had to do the same, not all cassette tools are equal !! Head down to bike shop, take the wheel & buy a new tool
I think it has something to do with thickness of tool material & the hub you have….
Of course you can remove the axle first. The bearings probably need re-packing anyway.

Where you get that tool from? Get a Park
Methinks you are using a freewheel tool on a cassette
Get a proper Park Tool cassette lockring tool
Take it to a bike shop dude
