Does the Class 80X family sound better on diesel power? Or electric power?
On 16th October, I finally got a chance to do the longest GWR IET journey possible from London Paddington all the way towards Penzance! The Summer only direct services from London Paddington to Newquay and Pembroke Dock / Doc Penfro have similar journey durations of 5 hours 15 minutes. The longest daytime GWR service is 5 hours 40 minutes from Penzance to Cardiff Central / Caerdydd Canolog which is 5 hours 40 minutes. I was onboard 800303 as the 1C76 1004 from Paddington to Penzance which is the only IET service not booked to call at Taunton on Mondays to Fridays only! This service was delayed by 15 minutes after Pewsey due to a signal failure between Pewsey and Westbury.

  2. Just a bit off putting to hear the River Tamar (the bridge and River between Devon and Cornwall) being pronounced as Tammar. It is phonetically Taymar. Fantasic piece of engineering though. Has been a 15miles an hour limit since it was built and opened in 1859.

  3. Nice Video! I have one question: ob my Tickets it shows that I have to make a change in Plymouth and it shows new seats that I’m assigned too but I don’t know if I have to change the train or just the coach with my seats. How do I even know wich train is the one that my ticket refers to?
