My dad messaged me out of the blue today and told me he’d bought an older Trek touring bike from an auction site and asked me if I knew anything about it since I’m a bit of a bike commuter.
He paid $100 CAD for it, and my hunch is he probably got a good deal, but then again I don’t really know.
It didn’t look like there was a model name in the photos, but I’m curious if anyone here recognizes anything about it and can tell me if its a decent ride or a POS? It looks pretty decent but I’m not really an expert on these things. Any insight you might be able to provide would be helpful!
Also, he asked if I’d be interested in this as an early birthday gift since one of my resolutions this year is to get into longer distance cycling, so if this is a legit good bike I’d be really excited to know!

Trek is a good brand. This is an old steel touring bike with an absolutely tiny granny gear (oh, about a 28, just looks crazy small next to the road chainrings). I’d pay $100 for that and then likely hang it until I could rebuild it completely, overhauling all of the bearings, replacing the chain and cables if they needed it.
