Total cost was 1300. I decided to support my local bike shop. Cost of the bike was $850 and the accessories/gear and everything were the rest. Helmet, fenders, front and rear light, basket and rack, lock, bell, rearview mirror. Could it have been less if I bought online/used? Absolutely, but it’s nice to have a relationship with people in person. They were all really kind people. I have a feeling most cyclists are.
This was more expensive than my current car (I got it for incredibly cheap tho), so my wallet is going to rest for a while. Had to use some savings for it, but it’ll be worth it.
They let me ride the bike – I rode around town for 20 minutes or so and it reminded me how freeing riding a bike was, even if I can’t go as fast as i’m able. I really enjoyed this, it’s been almost 10 years since i’ve ridden a bike, and everything i’d ridden were cheapo retail ones. This will probably be a stepping stone into a road bike in the future. It was just super smooth already – though I can see the first thing I might upgrade is the seat. We’ll see.

Congrats on your new bike!
I don’t know how much of a problem bike theft is in your area but if I were you I’d get a more solid lock 😉 this kind of lock doesn’t take too much effort to cut 🙁
