Hi everyone.

New wheels and full new drivetrain. Went from 3×7 to 1×10. Deore components, even the hubs.

Bike shifts through the gears fine, but the chain seems really loose even with the clutch engaged.

Before I go chasing other things, I just thought I’d ask if it looks like the derailleur itself is installed correctly?

I’ve got another bike with Deore 11 speed, and that derailleur doesn’t have that extra bit between the mech itself and the hanger. I’m hoping I didn’t buy an incompatible derailleur here.

Thanks in advance.

It is fine. Your other derailleur may be using a direct mount hanger, which is used without a b-link.

  2. Your 11 speed bike will be using the Direct Mount dropout hanger which doesn’t require the link portion of the mech to be installed.

This bike has the regular dropout hanger type and so requires the link to be in place so it moves the mech to where the Direct Mount is.

Have you correctly sized the chain?
You can adjust tension on the chain if it is the correct size by also adjusting the B Screw.
Try turning the clutch off and seeing if the mech becomes tighter then.
