It looks to be in decent shape. Claims no scratches to the frame. Claims upgraded Mavic wheels w/ carbon fibre spokes (he doesn’t know the model, says they were $1000 new). Here is the thing: he initially told me it is a 2018 model, and it was only through close inspection I determined it’s a 2016. My trust is obviously shaken. Now he has dropped the price another $50 and offered to throw in Shimano pedals. What do you think..?

I don’t know what the used market is like for you, and I don’t know anything about that bike, but there’s no way he doesn’t know the model of wheels he spent a thousand bucks on, never mind lying or being mistaken about the model year. That’s a lot of red flags for a blind $2000 purchase.
