    I’m mad that as an American my first thought was “oh this looks nice. What a wide bike lane- and that grate is pretty small and unobtrusive, definitely wouldn’t get my wheel stuck in that”

    I need to visit other countries. 

  2. I see things like this in the USA. I think that building codes in some areas require a bike lane, so for new construction, they just paint a stripe in front of the building and then it disappears.

    It is not contiguous and it is not separated from cars, so it adds no public benefit other than checking a box on a government checklist.

    The city would have been better off putting the money that that “bike lane” cost into a fund that they could eventually use to create safe and contiguous routes.
