Whilst cycling yesterday the brake started rubbing but I didn’t take notice until I got to about 300m from my home and decided I’d do a sharp brake check to perhaps get rid of the rubbing. Suddenly I heard a clunk and the wheel locked. Somehow the brake caliper broke off and one of the screws holding the mount to the frame had broken off. The caliper had worked itself forward and bent the rotor. I trued the rotor but believe the frame had bent were the mount holds to the frame. In one of the pictures it shows me holding the mount next to the frame and it’s touching the rotor. Anyone experienced something similar and do you think the frame is gone or can be fixed safely. I’m glad I wasn’t hurt and it didn’t happen in the middle of traffic where it could have been much worse. Sadly as I’ve converted it to electric, bike shops in London won’t touch it so somewhat stuck with a self repair. Also do you think the Shimano m500 caliper is the component that failed or perhaps the disk or mount screws.

Did you use a torque wrench to install ?
Possible that you seriously overtorqued the mounting screws which caused the rear eyelet to split, which then led to the caliper rotating and snapping the front mounting arm. But that would be some serious torque. Did you use torque wrench? If you did, it is definitely manufacturing defect and even if not it most likely is. I would contact shimano whatever the case is.
