I’m looking to buy a bike before summer to get into backpacking. I was thinking of buying a vintage mtb or a gravel bike at first. But ive moved more towards a modern rigid mtb now. I’ll be doing a lot of riding on coast paths over old rocky mining landscape and moorland in the uk am I don’t think a gravel bike would make for a comfortable ride on this. Id like to have the bike for the foreseeable future and take it on many adventures so I need to find a balance between quality and price range as I’m a student. I’m debating selling my full sus to fund this bike so it would be nice to be able to ride it in loaded on single track for a bit of fun as well.

Looks like a very nice ATB. The specs are pretty decent for a dirt tourer. My only concern is the wheels…not sure what the long term outcome is for those WTB rims. Google WTB cracked rim for some background.
I think it’s an outrageously good choice. The only fully rigid bike I’d use in bikepacking would have to have plus tires like this one. Also has 2x gearing so you should be able to climb up just about anything fully loaded. Rear rack mounts, fork mounts. The On-One Bootzipper is similar and way cheaper but is missing a lot of the features the Genesis. Kona Unit X is another option.
