Part 1 of the first of a series of complete test routes for around Hull. The DVSA don’t publish test routes anymore so these routes are from my personal experience and various different sources. All test routes are always subject to change so some may blend into others but hopefully I’m going to do as many as possible to cover every eventuality. Every possible route and problem areas. Good morning so I’m going to start off doing a series of test Roots full test roots from outside of the whole test center I’m going to split each route into maybe three or four different parts so it’s a bit more easier to digest we have whole test D whole test center I

Should to say on our right hand side at the moment um and going be coming down Reservoir Road at the end of the road going to be 10 in left we can get you to 10 right at the end of this road okay it’s a little bit

More trickier and I will do that one on a uh different video as we’re coming in drop it down to just under 10 m hour slowing it right down and just making sure that we can see down the road before we actually start going at the moment it’s not very busy

At all but I am going to be taking my time we going to go right at the roundabout third exit as soon as they give you that instruction start making that move over to the uh right hand side lane yeah most of the time they’ll give the instruction

At the end of the road or just beforehand and then they might get to go down one of these little side streets start off with a maneuver or whatever and uh but on this particular route we’re not going to bother doing that at the time you’re doing your um

Test out lers out about on there test just give one time as we com up around this Bend you can see uh there’s a b box sign I would always say to all my pups okay just almost more or less come to a stop really slow down on the way up to

It don’t worry about what people going to behind us really quick forward leaning forward to look down to the right hand side make sure it’s safe before we start that turn as we come around that bend and quick up to that bend it’s quite a sharp

Bend Char do 10 to speed down it so don’t be worried if you’re going 23 mil hour in the bend and then start building up speed as we’re passing mpk um Auto Center is just here we’ve got the ti 20 Zone coming up making sure that we got

That 20 Zone 20 uh 20 M hour before we ENT that 20 Zone got another roundabout coming up we going to be going right at that roundabout and again we really can’t see to the right hand side we slow right down we should have priority of these uh Vehicles straight ahead of us

Okay take it nice and easy and then wait until we get to 30 sign before we start increase on speed as we approach watching this Bend okay Mir check eats off your gas let the car just slow itself down okay and stay a little bit more to that left hand side

You better view okay same with the next Bend mirror checks okay and even though we’re not Ting good mirror check shows that you’re aware of the situation at this point the Mir get you to pull up on the left hand side don’t push it put your mirrors and signal on

If you need it okay and just let the car Slow Down Start gently breaking as we going up don’t forget secure the car handbrake on okay out gear or first gear indicator off always making sure that indicator is off okay and they’ll see okay move up again when you’re ready when it’s

Safe do that good look over that right shoulder okay it takes you a second really Lean Forward really look over that shoulder as you’re doing it okay don’t lean backwards and then look over your shoulder rigidly okay lean forwards and look over every single time I’m coming up to

A a Bend like that cars pared on or like here now I’m moving out nice and early so that as I pass this car I’m already straight okay like now moving out already straight as I’m passing the car you don’t want to be coming out into the road as you’re

Overt taking and you really can’t see at the lights we’re going to be going right so as we basically getting past this point okay where that um oneway street is just start moving over into that right side lane because the road’s only one lane up until that point you

Can get away with moving over without signal on you don’t really want to be signaling too early that could indicate you’re going down that second straight the one just after the one way street it’s just after the island it’s just after the bend yeah so we got the

Bend with the wood shop on the left hand side we’ve got the bend we got the island got the one way street and there’s that Second Street as it comes into two separate Lanes anticipation of the lights looking to see if anybody’s um being near the lights possibly being near the lights

May have press the button some guy on a scooter here yeah again always anticipating the lights anticipating the lights going to change to Green it’s SP to go to Red okay always trying to make it so that you can effectively keep your journey going going to be going left

Here as we noticed the hour’s pointing over as soon as you’re able to get over into that left hand side lane don’t leave it soon as you can start going over get it over so coming down cotan Road at the moment okay and this really is is uh bit

Of a tricky situation after we’ve come past little we’ve got here we straight on our right hand side straight on is making sure that we get into this Middle Lane here as we see it the right hand side lane of those two lanes that are go in this

Direction you can see on the Arrow board up here and on the arrow on the written on the road this is the lane that we need to use to go straight on as soon as you come into these New Roads start looking to see where you’re going looking for any information that’s

Ro on the road that’s that’s on one of these Arrow boards so that you can plan your route effectively cuz we’ve been stuck here for quite some time and there is a by Lane make sure you quick mirror check to both sides of you to make sure you got no Cy com

In now as we’re approaching this Set of Lights as before it was the right hand side lane to go straight on this time it’s the left hand side lane we noticed beforehand there was a 10 to our left hand side this time 10 to our right hand

Side so if we’ve got those sets of lights look where the where’s going again nice and relaxed mirrors okay ear you can do get the mirror checks out of the way get used to just moving your head as we’re coming past here okay approaching University on the right side

The road can splits up wens okay and we’ve got a bike lane on our left hand side again the crossing all right University students maybe uh here always be anticipating University students anyone near the crossing the lights going to change as you’re approaching those lights off you gas cover your break yeah

As we’re coming in here now approaching this next set of traffic lights okay Newman School for Girls on the right hand side going to go straight on here Arrow boards again okay saying that we should be on the right hand side lane to going straight on

Okay and as you can see just up in the road ahead just going past chance Chin’s Avenue chav whatever you want to call it okay divis 40s on coming up so remember as as soon as you get into uh from bever into this road uh Cottingham Road got those three sets of

Lights three Turing so the first set of Lights it’s on the right hand side lane second set of Lights it’s on the left hand side third one it’s on the right hand side again make sure that we picking up our speed and getting to 40 m hour if we can do

We’re going to be turning next right okay not a small right but this main one after the telephone box on our right hand side okay and as soon as we’re coming into here with 20 Z make sure we’re on that right hand side but not turning too

Early get that Wing miror in line with those white lines on your right hand side of you turning in there coming into this oneway street okay tickton Grove now as we’re coming into this we’ve got Park cars on our right hand side we’ve got a bike lane on our left hand

Side don’t worry about being overun into this bike lane it’s perfectly okay okay it’s perfectly okay to be in that bike lane now I’ve just pulled over here at this point cuz I’m going to end it for part one okay few bits and pieces just to go over again

Um as soon as we come into New Roads right is before we come into New Roads if coming from a major road into a minor Road always be looking to see if we can see any change of speed limit sign um any signs that are depicting whether or

Not this is a oneway street or uh any restrictions uh parking restrictions or whatever w l because they might ask you to pull up on the left hand side they might ask you to pull up on the right hand side looking up into the road as soon as

We can do you know looking for these signs as soon as we can do take it easy okay there’s no point rushing okay um if if you’re doing you know as long as you’re doing round about speed limit okay you’d be fine okay 30 miles hour all right you know try and be

Try and make sure you’re getting up to the speed limit when we can do okay and reducing it when we need to we’re approaching bends easing off our accelerator covering our breaking clutch we’re going around the right hand Bend we want to be more of to the left hand

Side if we’re going around the left hand Bend we want to be more of towards the middle of the road okay but always be assuming all right especially when you’re you’re coming down um skull courts uh we came down from Bank side down air Street okay we had that really

Sharp Bend to our right hand side and as we came up towards Crown paints on our right hand side we’ve got that real sharp Bend before I pulled up on the left now the amount of times I see people approaching ing that and uh coming from the opposite

Direction and they are more or less coming onto your side of the road we’ve got to be aware of something like that happening okay it’s it’s a sharp Bend coming around from the opposite direction and people don’t handle it very well I’m try and be aware of

That the hour code says that basically for a position for a left hand Bend you should be in the middle of the it should be towards the middle of the road but if you’re kind of getting the sense that you know being in the middle of your lane is the better option there

  1. If you are publishing Hull test routes on Youtube why will pupils need an ADI ??? Especially telling them what to do and what to look for!!
    You're doing the rest of us any favours.
