Posted a couple times how I’m faster on my Endurace than my Ultimate. Never below 19 mph avg on the Endurace…occasionally hit 20+. Never broke 19 mph avg on the Ultimate. GP 5000s on the Endurace. Vittoria Rubino Pros on the Ultimate. Put GP 5000s on the Ultimate and went out for a ride today…20.2 mph avg over 22 miles.

It absolutely is the tyres, same experience. Upgraded from a climbing bike to aero bike, and surprisingly got 2 kmh lower averages on flat terrain. Climbing bike had GP5000 TL, aero bike had the “in-house brand” clinchers. Changed tyres to GP5000 S-TR, and immediately gained 4 kmh over 1 hour at 215 W average power.
What size are those GP500?
Thanks!! It shows tyres are far more important than a slightly different geometry!
Now put some latex tubes in and be thrilled again 😉
Add in that the rubino’s are a PITA to install
Now try Vittoria Corsa Pro tubeless.
Whats a good tyre going from the Schwalbe Bite 45mm for gravel, and wanting nothing purely for road but maybe like a 35 mm almost slick kinda tyre??
Thk you
Too bad Rolf didn’t make a disc brake TDF60 carbon tubular
Your GP5000 only has 8.4w rolling resistance while the Vittoria has 15W 🙂
