  1. It’s WILD to me seeing so many people on reddit unsure about getting fenders. It seems like the most basic thing to have on a commuter bike.

  2. Had one on my bike and the connecting arms snapped contacted the company and they sent me a replacement but it was the first half of the rear that didn’t need replacement plus a front fender so it didn’t fit so I’ve been riding for months with partial fenders and my back gets like this constantly luckily it’s water resistant and has a smooth finish so it’s easy to clean.

That pack looks huge! Different conversation, I know…. Have you looked into camera backpacks?

  4. Just got fenders too because I am so sick of cleaning crud off my frame and clothes and helmet…

It’s a pain in the ass to install proper metal fenders – totally worth it though. Say goodbye to the crud stripe.

All bike commuters are on an evolutionary path towards fenders and saddlebags. It’s just a matter of how quickly one evolves.

You must be the type to not have any lights on your bike as well but you wear a helmet smh

I can’t use my personal bike to ride to campus. I got a dry bag which is rubbery and easily wipes off

Such is life as a commuter. The best fenders in the world wont stop you from getting dirty.

But I like to get dirty on my biek so there is that lol

  9. Get a bag that you can hose down and dry easily 😀 lots of panniers and cycling bags can do that.

  10. For the most part I take them off, but as soon as it starts raining it’s fender time because I don’t like getting splashed by whatever kind of dirt and gunk that lies on the streets. Ew.
Why don’t some people like putting fenders on their bikes tho?

I saw Win Wing 2 being discussed in another post and bought it. Then I see this post. Thank you OP for curing my buyer’s remorse.

Go with full coverage fenders. They will also protect your drivetrain and feet. Don’t worry, they’re cool.

  13. If you just get a mudguard you will soon want full fenders because that stain will move from your back to your legs

  14. Every rider behind you will thank you for full fenders. Mud guards are for mountain bikers. If you’re commuting be considerate please.

  15. You know that little flap-pocket type thing at the bottom of your backpack?

It probably has a rainguard you can pull out and put over your backpack for situations like this.

The solution was inside you(r backpack) all along….

Note* I’m not sure if they’re still including them but back when I was stocking up – most did… forgot and found out after a situation similar to this. Was a *facepalm* situation

  16. Doesn’t your Osprey backpack come with a rain cover in the bottom, unless it’s an older model. I have an Osprey Radial I use to commute has one.

This looks like the guy I was following for a bit yesterday. Pouring rain, no fenders, and he had muddy water all the way up his back and even on his backside. It looked like he’d had an accident. RIP gotta get fenders
