Sounds about right – Fox kinda shit the bed with the X2 for the past 3 years. Really disappointing.

I don’t think it’s actually an oil leak…my fork will do this after service when extra grease is pushed out… I would monitor over the next few rides and see if it starts dripping oil.
But yes, the x2 seems to be a dud shock in the long run.
Given its only the second run, it’s quite possible that’s just a bit of excess assembly oil. Although other commenters are correct there have been a fair few X2 issues. Personally I would clean it all up, and it it happens again then I’d start worrying about a fix/replacement.
Also — The piggyback has like 400psi in it, so it does seem slightly unlikely it’s leaking oil gently like that. It might just be excess assembly oil bleeding into the dust. I hope for your sake anyway…
Looks like it’s just excess assembly grease to me. My brand new Cane Creek shock did the same thing.
That’s not a real leak, more like lube.
