Looking to buy road bike, but don’t have much budge nor bike knowledge! Will be using it mostly recreational and some commuting!

  1. Yes, go for it. As a biker with less experience you may want to buy some flat pedals unless you’re comfortable with the spd pedals. I bike exclusively with spds but it can be limiting and has a learning curve.

    1. Does it actually fit you?
    2. Start learning to maintain the thing (ParkTool x Youtube).
    3. Catch the bug, save some money and move up the price/value ladder in a year or two after you’ve hit a threshold for your individual budget/consistency. Until the frame breaks, its usually cheaper to replace parts (if you’re doing it yourself) than buying new, but at some point, you’ll say, “You know Vinny, I’ve been thrashing the heck outta this thing, its time I spent a few more nickels on the next thing to thrash.”
