Today I discovered that this thing on my bike rack is perfectly designed to hold a dozen eggs 🤯 and I cannot find any evidence online that anyone else knows this but me

I’ve always assumed they were designed to hold a rolled up jacket or some such.
But apparently they were designed to clamp down old-style saddle bags, that is 2 panniers connected at the tops by a broad piece of material that straddles atop the rack. The spring loaded trap keeps the “saddle bags” in place.

Looks like something that will break your eggs.
