Costco is running a $1k off special on this bike right now. $2,500 msrp on sale for $1,500. Carbon frame. GRX 2x or SRAM Apex 1x. Looks like good components. I have no experience with Intense but have heard they make quality mountain bikes.
To me, $1,500 for a brand new gravel bike seems impossible to refuse. Someone play devil’s advocate for me?

Been curious for a long time… 1,500 for grx600? If so, great deal!
Seems like a great deal to me. I have a Costco membership and I can’t remember buying any big ticket item that was a let down. And they generally stand behind their products if there is an issue. If I were in the market for a new bike, I’d definitely look at this.
Almost certainly an open mould OEM frame similar to the popular Carbonda 696, could be the 707. Good specs, good price. Even the saddle is nice. I’d buy this bike.
Use a Costco credit card and get more cash back and buy a few $1.50 hot dogs on the way out with your new wheels. 😎
Intense has a 5 year warranty on the frame, 2 years on the bike. Just register it within 90 days. Seems hard to go wrong on this.
Just bought a Giant Revolt 2 (aluminum frame) for about $1300 a few weeks ago. Mechanical brakes, Sora derailleurs (9 speed), set up tubeless. This costco bike looks pretty good to me.
The 951 XC is $1000 off too.

I’ve read nothing but good reviews on all these bikes
Holy hell, I’d jump on that in a heart beat
That’s a pretty sweet deal.
Any ideas about build quality? If these are built up at the store I can’t see it being done properly

Might be nice, but with it being online only and the sizing being so hard to discern, I would hesitate to buy. Can you return it at the store if it doesn’t fit, or do you have to pay for shipping back? The “medium” is listed as 5’4″ to 5’10” which is a huge range. There’s also a 2″ overlap on the sizes, so it might be hard to make a decision unless you fall right in the middle of the range they give for your size.
On [the manufacturer web site](https://intense951.com/products/951-series-gravel-bike) they say the reach on the medium is 390 mm, which is about the same as the [56 cm Kona rove](https://www.konaworld.com/en-ca/products/rove) and the top tube length is 560 mm on the INTENSE which is the same as the 54 CM Kona Rove. I ride a Kona Rove and I’m 5’8″. No way anybody that’s 5’6″ or under would be comfortable on this bike.
You wanted devil’s advocate so here goes: that color & graphics scheme is hideous to my eyes, and I’d never be caught dead on it. YMMV
My neighbor got this one a few months ago and it’s pure hot garbage.
* Build quality was shockingly bad.
* Components were not fitted correctly or calibrated (*brakes, drivetrain, wheels*).
* Just kinda slapped on. Nothing torqued.
* Disks (BOTH!) were warped
* Nearly every mounting surface was untrue and requires specialized tools to correct
* Besides the drivetrain, all components are bottom-shelf. Think the ‘*sports*’ section at Wallmart
I feel sorry for anyone who buys this and expects it to ride well out of the box.
*(edit) Your experience may differ, this is just 1st hand situation on one purchase. A few DMs from people saying I’m a snob. You can spend a little more and get a lot better. Take a look at Lauf, Canyon, Obed.*
I really wish the small GRX was on sale.. why would all the other sizes be on there except small?!??!
I just paid $1500 for a GRX-400 level Bikes Direct gravel bike with a carbon frame. Never thought I’d see a better spec at that price. This thing seriously has me considering returning it. Only problem is the color scheme but I could probably learn to love it.
Just bought one for the wife. We’ll see how it is when it arrives
I just bought 2 lol
There are 2 versions of the Costco Intense: 1x vs 2x. Which one should I get?
