  1. Your Status 160 is completely fine for rides with your wife. If you WANT a second bike (it’s not a need), that is indeed a good deal. But IMO I don’t think it’s nice enough and differentiates itself to justify the 2nd bike.

    If you’ve got money to blow, and you want it, who cares.

  2. No opinion on that bike but if it were me I’d go for a 27.5 hardtail so you have something more playful and fun and not just a less capable version of what you already have.

    I ride my status 160 with my (ex) gf because it handicaps me. It’s so slow on the climbs that she can keep up with me. I don’t know your wife’s fitness level relative to yours, but if it’s that different, you are better off keeping the status.

    Buy a gravel bike if you want true xc performance and speed.

    Edit: that intense is a good deal. Get it
