If you suddenly lost all of your fingernails your fingertips would feel incredibly sensitive this is because the skin underneath your nails is thin and fragile and because it’s your fingertips this area is also full of sensitive nerves now fingernails also significantly Aid in gripping small objects without them your hand

Functionality would be limited over time your nails would eventually grow back but it would typically take about 6 months

  1. As someone who had lost an entire toenail, i can confirm that this is true. And 6 months is usually the maximum amount of time for your nails to grow back. Otherwise, it can grow back in about 5 months

  2. I had one of my fingernails ripped off by a door before. It was absolute hell.

It grew back ofc, and I honestly feel better knowing what to expect from the pain, but damn it sucked.

  3. If you lose a fingertip above the nailbed , the fingertip can grow back. There’s before and after pics and videos of it, it’s wild.

  4. This actually happened to me once,
I lost the nail of my thumb when I was around 3-4 yrs old. It felt like the type of pain you would get if sweat got into a paper cut on your finger but much worse since it's an entire surface of what the nail of the thumb covers and there would also be a hot sensation all the time on your thumb as well

  5. I lost one fingernail one time and when it’s ready to lose I was afraid that I would have internal pain or bleeding so I waited for a few days to release it and this was in 2018

  6. My finger was in the window and I accidentally left the window and my thumb finger nail was broken and I went to the doctor t o remove the broken nail and now there is only little nail to grow

  7. Hmm yes, I remember I lost one of my fingernails, or actually I had it removed because I did some dumb shit. It did grow back but the small Oval shape where the nail grows from is kinda crooked.
