Hey guys I’m relatively new to working on bikes, but I want to upgrade my bike operationally and aesthetically by adding drop bars. Currently running with 3×6 gears and there are no shifters available as y’all know. So I was wondering if I could put a 7 speed freewheel here within reason or should I pivot and find another way to change gears with my current friction set?

Should be fine to put a 7sp freewheel in there.
You can use the frictionless shifting set to shift any amount of gears and i think for 9-11 gears in the back its way better than clicking like a madman to find the gear every time the road changes also mix and matching drive train parts is super simple using frictionless shifters
You really don’t need to swap your cassette, this bike looks well maintained and/or never used. I would suggest buying a 6 speed friction shifter instead.
