    Use an oval chain ring to help deal with the weight of a steel frame gear bike and give you more easier torque going up hills. Best thing ever trust me having 15-20 percent more torque off of start and for going up hill makes a huge difference especially if you plan to run bigger tires

  2. The Trek Multitrack frames are awesome to work with and convert. Many different directions.

    Depends on purpose and topography. If all round commuter/daily beater and low budget this set up is pretty decent all round. Especially the Shimano SiS shifting.

    I refurbish tons of these and swap out chains and cassette if worn. They go forever. Can’t kill these old school drive trains if already in decent shape. Incredibly serviceable.
