Geology of the Europe so when we look into the geological regionalization of Europe we observe that this entire land mass has different types of orogenic belts means Mountain formations happen and also epir ogenic formations that we observe out here so if You observe it ranges from Precambrian to Alpine right

So Precambrian konian henian Alpine belt so if You observe Precambrian is before 540 million years ago that we already talked in the earlier lectures also and after that If You observe is these periods so if You observe the kalonian which is 490 to 390 million years ago

Henian is roughly 419 to 299 roughly around the formation of Pangia and then the latest one is Alpine region which is 2.5 million years ago to 65 million so between 65 to 2.5 this is the Alpine region of Europe and you can see the color coding as well so large part of

Europe If You observe has evolved in Precambrian times

  1. All the way to the Cantabrian Mountains, i.e. to Asturias-León border area in NW Spain, it is Alpine origeny. Also the Pyrenees do not just end at the French-Spanish border but continue along the interior of the Basque Country (lower Basque Mts.) and then join the Cantabrian Mountains. The Spanish-French border within the Basque Country is rather low (between hilly and flat) and is defined by a river in fact. This is because Iberia was one of several ancient islands of the once European archipelago and is still pressing against the Bay of Biscay and West France, under pressure from Africa.
