Building up a ventum gs1 with shimano 1×12.
It looks like I just run a full length shifter housing to the rear mech. Is that common? On my roubaix it does not run cable housing inside the frame.
Should I put the foam sleeve on the brake hose or the shifter housing?

Looks like just housing liner poking out of the frame near the RD. I’m kind of assuming you do not need full length housing but take a close look at the exit point to see if there is a stop built into the frame.
My Cervélo requires full length shift housing
Honestly, shifting is better with full length housing. Bit of a weight penalty, sure, but personally I see this as more of a boon than a drag.
a) Full length stop to stop housing isn’t uncommon on newer frames. If you don’t have cable stops at the entry/ exit or a cable guide near the bb you won’t really have a choice anyways.
b) Run the foam on the brake, it will be much easier to change shift housing in the future w/o having to worry about keeping it in place.
