  1. Looks like just housing liner poking out of the frame near the RD. I’m kind of assuming you do not need full length housing but take a close look at the exit point to see if there is a stop built into the frame.

  2. Honestly, shifting is better with full length housing. Bit of a weight penalty, sure, but personally I see this as more of a boon than a drag.

  3. a) Full length stop to stop housing isn’t uncommon on newer frames. If you don’t have cable stops at the entry/ exit or a cable guide near the bb you won’t really have a choice anyways.
    b) Run the foam on the brake, it will be much easier to change shift housing in the future w/o having to worry about keeping it in place.
