These brakes needed an adjustment so I’d been trying to tighten them (they’d become quite loose over time). But now these brakes keep doing this thing where there’s a very audible knocking sounds coming from inside the calipers somewhere, and whenever that happens the brakes won’t fully engage.
It’s inconsistent, but I can’t trust these brakes *at all* if I’m out on this bike right now. Which is an issue, because it’s my only vehicle and main way of commuting and getting my kids to and from daycare.
The bike manufacturer is sending new calipers since these were still in warranty (by a week lol, lucky me), but I’d really like to understand what is going on and whether/how I can fix it, if anyone knows. Are the brakes just broken, or is this something that can be addressed? I can’t seem to find any service manuals for these brakes online anywhere, or any info from the manufacturer, so that’s been a dead end.
