Hey guys! I’m a newbie here so please bear with me. I’ve got a specialized Allez (like the one pictured) but don’t particularly enjoy road biking much (afraid of my brains getting sprayed across the asphalt). I’ve got a few very nice groomed gravel trails for cycling nearby that I enjoy riding on but would like to ride some of the dirt roads in the area as well (little rougher than the trails).
Any suggestions on where to start? Recommendations on tires etc? I understand the correct answer may be “get a new bike” but I’d be happy to modify this one some to make it more capable.

Max tire width you’ll be able to get in a rim brake bike like that will be 28mm, not enough to truly enjoy light gravel, IMO. Best to have 38mm+ for that, although 32-35mm would be doable.
Need discs, cantis, v-brakes, or long reach calipers for that kind of width – none of these will fit on that bike.
