Just signed up for a beginner triathlon.
Not really sure what to look for out on the marketplaces, if any input could be provided I would be extremely grateful.
This one was listed for $450, seems overpriced but I just don’t know what to do.
TIA

It depends how deep you want to get into the time trial part. The bike would need a few upgrades like clipless pedals and aero bars or attachments. It’s not a carbon frame so there’s weight to it at this level of bike compared to carbon. It looks to have a 105 rear drivetrain which is good. I’m not sure about the rest of the groupset though. You’ll want a very aerodynamic riding position which means back almost horizontal as you ride. Make sure the frame’s size allows for that with your height. It looks to be in good condition and an ok start. You could do a lot worse. It would get you going, but it will need upgrades down the road like wheels and tires for better handling and feel. It depends on your budget and time schedule, but I’d look into used triathlon bikes already set up or time trial bikes. People get the stuff to try triathlons and then quit and sell the stuff cheap just to recoup some of their money. Hope a least some of this helps.
