Here is my experience : Ivisited a guy who said he had a big collection of bikes but it was very eye opening. There were piles of bikes (mostly all rusted), wheels, and tires covered with tarps. It was muddy and cats were everywhere. I ended up finding some nice frames and a GT bike stuffed in a corner. In the end it was worth it I think. Has anyone else had a bad experience?

I bought a Colnago from a popular local bike shop. I had waited years for the thing, and for me, it was a big exciting event. A culmination of sorts. The clerk was rude and dismissive. He hedged and lectured—as if doing me a favor. It was miserable. I rode thing for 10 years before swapping it out for something less aggressive and less high strung. Damn well worth the insufferable prick’s attitude.

  2. Bought a color fade Specialized from a man dying of brain cancer who just wanted to talk to someone.. he told me a lot about his time in Iraq and Afghanistan. Brutal stuff. I was happy to at least be able to lend an ear to a hurting veteran. Hard stuff to listen to though.. especially unsolicited. Sick bike, I should have it rolling this spring

  3. The closest I’ve got is when I bought a Santana Moda mountain frame in ‘95 that developed a crack around nearly the entire circumference of the down tube. They replaced the front end and repainted it on their dime, but I sold it as soon as I got it back. The buyer wound up as my roommate a year later. Awkward!
