Has bike commuting unlocked new fears for anyone? This new job has me commuting to downtown and I now am the owner of pepper gel and have gained a new fear of getting clipped by a bus….
I’ve been a road cyclist for about a decade and have never really thought about buses (usually stuck to country roads with wide shoulders). Urban cycling makes my heart beat so fast I get a knot in my stomach until I leave the downtown area. I don’t know how you guys in big cities do it! Hats off to you!

  1. I just don’t bike down main street as that is the bus hub lol

Go straight through the intersection and turn down Prospect instead!

Also hey! Have you been to a Critical Mass yet? They meet every last Friday of the Month at 630 at the Carousel!

I do find the bus drivers are pretty good and seem to be careful, I trust them driving for the most part more than cars. As for pepper gel, I think Hartford feels pretty safe, especially Downtown. Going into the South End of Hartford I do feel a little less comfortable late at night.
