I absolutly hated this video. They interviewed one actual researcher and one guy with a phd and a mighty strong opinion and then acted as if the research and the opinion were actually comparable arguments of simmilar weight.
The only valuable piece of information that came anlong in the video was: in the daylight high vis colors increase your visibility and in the dark it will be reflectors. And that is why all high vis clothing ever had both those things on them.

I wear it, because if you get hit there is a chance the hitter can argue that you were not taking appropriate measures for your own safety and therefore the hitter cannot be responsible.
I don’t really think they help that much… inattentive drivers just don’t see anything… but anything that defends against lawyers is worth it.
Similar with helmets, much more protection vs lawyers than tonnes of metal.

I don’t wear the high-vis stuff because I don’t personally feel that it helps me be much more visible to cars. Not enough to justify the vest being a hot sweaty pain in my ass anyway.
Motorists are basically phone blind these days anyway. No amount of reflectors are going to make a difference if they aren’t looking at you to begin with.
What will help them see you are active lights. An active light is far more perceptible out of the sides of your vision than bright colors or reflected lights.
What I have found the high-vis to be useful for is attracting unwanted attention from people in bad neighborhoods. It’s a clear indication that you do not belong there and that you just might have something for them.
I feel that I can attribute several of my more memorable crackhead encounters directly to that dumb vest.
