We live in very unusual days; we’re all amply aware of that. The challenges that we’re facing in this time are significant. There is an important balance we need to maintain: being aware of what’s going on in society while also standing firm on the
Word of God. Today is indeed an unusual day in terms of the teaching time we have. Normally, I teach through books of the Bible in a verse-by-verse expository fashion, or we handle a particular topic or issue that we’re grappling with. So today is just going to be unique.

To Anchorage and then home. I had a ticket in my pocket to get on an airplane, and a pastor came up and said, “Listen, I can save you money.” I said, “How’s that?” He said, “I flew a small airplane
Up here, and I fly a small airplane, and I can take you in my little airplane, and you can save your ticket.” This did not sound… I said, “Thank you so very, very much, but I’ve got this ticket;
We’ll just make our way on home.” Me and this other lawyer with me, he said, “No, no, no, you got to do it. You got to do it.” And against every better judgment I had, I said, “Okay.”
Well, we went out to the airport, took us by his little plane, and I looked at it, and I thought, “Well, one good thing, it’s shiny.” Then he walked around it, we got in, he’s on the left front, I’m on the right front, the other lawyer’s sitting right behind me,
And he started it up, and it started up just fine. We taxied out; I said, “Should we pray?” He said, “Yeah, that’s a good idea. We normally don’t.” I said, “Well, this time we’re going to.” And I’m telling you, I prayed five, eight minutes; I prayed a long time.
We went and got on the runway; he starts down the runway, the plane lifted off ever so gently, and we start climbing, and it’s wonderful, not a problem in the world. We started climbing, and we flew probably three, four minutes, and something happened that will never leave my mind:
The pilot turned to me and he said, “We’re going in the clouds, and I can’t fly in clouds, they make me pass out.” I said, “Clouds make you do what now? It’s been cloudy all day!” And we go right up into the clouds, and you can’t see anything, and he looks at me,
And his eyes roll back in his head, and he starts mumbling, and he passes out. Co now I grabbed him, and I shook him, and I said, “Come on, you got to wake up so I can kill you!”
Now, we were in the clouds, flying along with no pilot, and my friend in the back seat said, “We’re dead, aren’t we?” I said, “There’s a very good chance of that, yes.” He said, “What are we going to do?” I said, “I don’t know.” But there was a radio right there, and
I handed him the microphone, and I said, “Start asking for help.” So, he’s in the back seat, reaching up, and he said, “Hello? Hello?” We didn’t know any proper radio etiquette; all we were saying was, “Hello.” And somebody answered back, “Hello? Hello? Don’t you guys
Know proper radio etiquette?” And I said, “Give me! We don’t know nothing. Tell them we’re in an airplane with a passed-out pilot, and we don’t know how to fly this plane!” The guy said, “I’m a freighter flying out of Anchorage on the way to Tokyo,” and he said, “You’re telling me
You have nobody who can fly that plane with you?” I said, “Tell them, that’s correct.” Now, you got to understand, I am sweating bullets. He said, “The first thing I’m going to do is start circling, so I don’t lose you, because I’ll fly out of range of your radio,
And you won’t have me anymore.” And he said, “I’m going to get Anchorage emergency for you, and Anchorage emergency will be the people that can maybe help you try to save your life.” After about five minutes, Anchorage came on, said, “We understand you have a passed-out pilot and those
Of you who do not know how to fly that plane.” We said, “That’s right.” They said, “Well, the first thing we got to do is find you.” And I’ll never forget what this man at Anchorage said, he said,
“My job is to get you home safe.” He said, “That’s my job.” But he said, “Here’s the deal, if you want me to get you home safe, you got to promise me you’ll obey my voice.” He said,
“You can’t see me, but I can see you.” And he said, “If you’re not going to obey my voice, you’re going to die.” When you can’t see anything, you have no idea how disoriented you become. Finally, he said, “Okay, I found you. Now hear me clear,” he said, “You’re four minutes
From a mountain. You’re going to crash into that mountain and die. Follow my voice.” I never said, “I have to follow your voice.” Is that really able, you see? I understood without his voice, I had nothing. And do you understand, without God’s voice, you have nothing. Finally,
He got us turned, and he said, “I’m freezing all the traffic in the area.” He said, “It’s going to take me an hour and a half to get you to Anchorage, and there’s a lot of weather between
You and Anchorage. You’re in for a rough ride.” And he said, “I want you to hear me. I don’t want you to look at what’s going on outside. I don’t want you to pay attention to the storm, just my
Voice.” He said, “If you start watching the storm, you will die. But I’ll take you through it.” Now, because they cleared all the traffic, several pilots, those nighttime freighters, those 747s, started talking to us. They said, “We’re praying for you,
Men. You’re going to make it, but listen to the voice, that’s the key.” They said, “Trust the voice.” You realize your head is full of voices, and everybody in this world wants to talk to you, and everybody wants to be the controlling voice, and God says, “I want you to be a
Living sacrifice. I want you to put yourself on the altar. Let my voice be your voice.” Finally, we went through the worst of the weather, but there was still more, and then the voice came
Back, and it said, “Now, I’m going to line you up. I’m going to bring you in right down the runway, and at the foot of the runway are some lights, and they’re in the form of a cross.” He said,
“Don’t you forget this, the cross is the way home.” Finally, he’s bringing us down, we still can’t see anything, and all he kept saying is, “Stay with me, my sheep.” The Bible says, “Hear my voice, and they follow me.” Finally, just a couple of hundred feet off the ground,
We saw the cross. I landed the plane, in fact, I landed it seven times. Finally, it all came to a stop, and the minute we stopped, the pilot woke up. The voice said, “Thanks for listening. I watch them crash and burn all the time because they won’t follow my voice. They don’t understand
I’m the one who can see them, even when they can’t see me, but they get the voices in their head, and they kill themselves, they self-destruct. Thanks for listening to the voice.” Then they put us in a motel room, and about four in the morning,
There’s a knock at my door, and I opened the door, and a man was standing there. He said, “Hello, David.” He said, “You’re the voice, you’re the one who got me home.” He said, “I am. Do you understand, one day you’re going to stand before Him and say, ‘You were the voice,
You’re the voice that brought me home’? If you’re not on that altar as a living sacrifice, your head’s full of voices; and then, we wonder why kids crash and burn. We wonder why marriages are shattered, and the Lord’s saying, “I’m the one who has the
Voice.” All I can remember is that voice saying, “Stay with me, stay with me. Don’t listen to what’s going on in your head, and don’t watch the storm. Stay with me, and I’ll take you through.” Tonight, you have a God who has promised to take you through.”
We live in a day and age where there are many competing voices for your attention. There are a tremendous amount of distractions. There are voices in our head. There are voices on social media all around us. There are voices that want us to follow what they want us to know and to apply.
But listen, it’s so very important that you hear the voice of God. Hearing the voice of God is a matter of life and death. It’s one thing to be in a life or death situation as it deals with flight;
It’s quite another situation when it deals with your soul. And so it is of utmost importance in this day and age that we’re listening to the voice of God. It literally is a matter of life and death, not only in terms of eternity but also in terms of time.
Listening to the voice of God is a life-altering experience. God’s voice is altogether unique, different from all the other shouting voices that we hear out there. The children of Israel needed to learn this for themselves. Let me read to you some verses from the last book in the Torah,
The law of Moses, the book of Deuteronomy, chapter 4. We are told in verse 33, “Has any people heard the voice of God speaking from the midst of the fire as you have heard it and survived?” Now,
When did that happen? When did God speak to His people from the midst of a fire? When did that take place? Well, the answer is found in the same chapter, starting in verses 10-12. Moses is writing, and he says, “Remember the day you stood before the Lord your God at Horeb.” He’s
Referring to Mount Horeb. Did you know that Mount Horeb is one and the same as Mount Sinai? If you were to look at cross-references and compare notes in your Bible and also consider what the best of Bible scholarship has to offer on the subject, Mount Horeb and Mount Sinai are one
And the same. We discover that in Deuteronomy 4:12-13, which we will see. And also when you use the cross-references of Exodus 33:6 and Exodus 34:1-2. In any case, Moses writes, “Remember the day you stood before the Lord your God at Horeb when the Lord said to me,
‘Assemble the people to Me that I may let them hear My words so they may learn to fear Me all the days they live on the earth, and that they may teach their children.’ You came near and
Stood at the foot of the mountain.” So, I made reference to the fact that Horeb is a mountain, yes, Mount Horeb. And that’s reinforcement for it. “And the mountain burned with fire to the very heart of the heavens, darkness, cloud, and thick gloom. Then the Lord spoke to you
From the midst of the fire. You heard the sound of words, but you saw no form, only a voice.” The voice of the Lord is that which deserves our undivided attention. It really does. And the voice of God is spotlighted particularly in Psalm 29, starting in verse 3. It says, “The voice
Of the Lord is upon the waters, the God of glory thunders, the Lord is over many waters. The voice of the Lord is powerful; the voice of the Lord is majestic. The voice of the Lord breaks the cedars;
Yes, the Lord breaks in pieces the cedars of Lebanon. The voice of the Lord hews out flames of fire. The voice of the Lord makes the deer to calve and strips the forests bare; and in His temple, everything says, ‘Glory.'” And so, that passage alone underscores how important the
Voice of the Lord is. It’s active, and it makes a difference with living things all around it. Did you know that following, listening to, obeying the voice of the Lord is that, in part, which distinguishes angels? The Greek refers to them as “angelos,” they’re messengers.
We’re talking about the elect angels, the good angels, not fallen angels or demons. But when it comes to angels themselves, they set a great standard. They are wonderful models for us insofar as the fact that they listen to the voice of the Lord and they follow
What God says. Sometimes we will refer to a person as being a little angel, maybe kids, we will call infants “angels.” Sometimes we will refer to an adult, “Well, she was my angel,” or, “He was like an angel to me.” Well, as much as we may love and appreciate humans, other than Jesus,
No human being perfectly listened to the voice of God and obeyed the Word of God. But angels do. Listen to what we are told about them in Psalm 103:20, “Bless the Lord, you His angels, mighty in strength, and I love this, who perform His word, obeying the voice of His word.” I want
To be like an angel in that way, don’t you? We are to perform what God tells us to do. We hear what He says. This is that which you need to carry out in your life. You need to obey the Word.
In our culture, if you communicate the Word of God, you are a part of a group of people known as haters, you spout hate speech if you believe what the Word of God teaches. That’s a tag that
Unfortunately we wear in this day and age. But our goal is to perform the Word of God, to carry it out in our lives. Refusing to listen to the voice is disastrous. That’s not only true when it comes to the aerospace industry, when it comes to flight, it is especially true when
It comes to our soul, our very spirit. It’s disastrous to not listen to the voice of the Lord. Colossians 3:25 says, “He who does wrong will receive the consequences of the wrong which he has done, and that without partiality.” Numbers 32:23: “Be sure your sin will find you out.”
It’s so important; it’s a matter of life and death that we follow the voice of the Lord. Following God’s voice is really the way to go. I love how in Jeremiah 7:23 it says, God is speaking, “Obey my
Voice.” And there are three perks that will come for the individual who will follow God’s voice, three promises: “Obey my voice,” here’s the first one, “and I will be your God.” Here’s the second one, “and you will be my people, and you will walk in all the way which I command you.”
Here’s the third perk, “that it may be well with you.” We want to be in good standing with God; we need to hear and obey the voice. We want it to go well with ourselves; we need to hear the voice.
Sadly, we live in a day and age where we are in the minority. But popularity, popular opinion, has never dictated truth. It has never been the wisest course of action in the minds of the populace to
Follow God and His word. And we are living in the end times, and we know that, in part, because even as we are moving forward toward the time when Jesus will return at His second coming, we are seeing the stage being set. We are seeing the harbinger, the forerunner of events leading up
To the time when Jesus will return. And so, with the geopolitical environment in which we live, where there are nations lining up against Israel, and we are seeing people repudiating the Word of God, wanting nothing to do with Jesus, making a mockery out of Jesus, and deception running
Rampant, things are falling in place, they are lining up exactly as God says they will. Listen to the words of Jesus; well in Matthew 24:3-5, it says that the disciples asked Jesus, “What will be the sign of Your coming? How are we going to know when You’re coming back? Give
Us a heads up; give us an understanding of that, Jesus. What’s the sign of the end of the age?” And Jesus answered them; He said, “See to it.” And here’s the first sign, “See to it that no one misleads you.” He starts right out from the get-go by warning His men about deception,
That there’s coming a time when deception will be prominent. We’re living in that day and age right now. Fake news, false news, disinformation, wild rampant deception all around. And He says, “For many will come in My name, saying, ‘I am the Christ,’ and will mislead many.” Same chapter,
Matthew 24:11, “Many false prophets will arise and will,” here it is again, “mislead many.” Now, for the third time, He mentions how people will be misled. Same chapter, chapter 24:23,24, “If anyone says to you, ‘Behold, here is the Christ,’ or ‘There He is,’ do not believe him,
For false christs and false prophets will arise and will show great signs and wonders so as to mislead, if possible, even the elect.” And if you know and love the Lord, there are times when you could teeter-totter and wonder if something is true or false; there’s a lot of deception.
At least five times in Matthew 24, Jesus calls attention to deception. And so we, as the people of God, need to uniquely hear the voice of God; we need to be wise, we need to be discerning, and stay on the straight and narrow path that the Lord wants us to walk on,
Without turning to the left or to the right, even if none will follow. We need to follow Jesus; we need to be immovable, steadfast, anchored to the Lord Jesus and the Word of God. Well, before Jesus comes back, deception will be dominant, and we also know that false prophets
Will be pervasive. In 2 Thessalonians chapter 2, verses 1-3, Paul warns, “Now we request you, brethren, with regard to the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ and our gathering together to Him, that you not be quickly shaken from your composure or be disturbed either by a spirit or a message or
A letter as if from us, to the effect that the day of the Lord has come.” Then he says in verse three, “Let no one in any way deceive you.” In our day and age, deception is running rampant; it is
All over the place. It exudes to the point where people are wondering, “Who can you trust? Who can you believe? What authority can I turn to?” Social media is a big contributor to this, but many churches also have become compromised, just like compromised politicians. I don’t need to sell
You on the idea that there are some very crooked politicians out there; I mean, that seems obvious. So it is that there are churches that are becoming watered down, compromised, and they are buying “hook, line, and sinker” the ways of the world. They are deviating from Holy Writ,
From God’s Word. They have traded, I would say, godly convictions for being—I will call it being “cartoonish”. And so, they just come across silly; they’ll do anything to get a hearing. They have exchanged Bible exposition for entertainment; they have bought into the false narrative that churches
Need to be seeker-sensitive. And so, what happens is there are churches that are now conforming to the ways of the world, and they look just like the world, why? Because they’re concerned about nickels and noses; they want to fill the seats, they want the income to pour in. But the
Whole underpinning of the seeker-sensitive movement is unbiblical; Romans chapter 3, starting in verse 10, says, “As it is written, there is none righteous, not even one. There is none who understands, there is none who seeks for God.” It says it right there. There’s no
Such thing as a seeker, an unbeliever who is truly seeking the Lord. If there’s an unbeliever who’s moving in a direction of God, it’s because the Lord is drawing that person to Himself, and that person has heard the gospel and has received it. But a person’s depraved nature does not naturally
Seek after God; we either believe that, or we’re saying that Romans 3:10-12 is a lie. There’s no such thing as an unbeliever who is a spiritual seeker naturally; that is just false. And so, churches are pandering to crowds of people to entertain them, to amuse them so that they will
Come back the following week. They’ve turned the church into a worldly three-ring circus, a joke where we just blend in with the culture, and we are no different than anybody else. There’s no distinctiveness. There’s no holiness. We are not set apart for God’s holy purposes.
Well, in the Christian Post, it reports the following article entitled, “Ohio Mega-Church Pastor Kicks Bible Off Stage.” A Bible! Kicks the Bible off stage! This just happened last weekend during the Super Bowl! This is shocking; this should be very disturbing
To all of us. This is nothing less than flagrant desecration of God’s Holy Word; that’s exactly what it is. It’s shocking irreverence and disrespect for the Bible, and it is disgusting. It should make your blood boil; very offensive. And yet, this is
What churches are resorting to. This happened just last weekend. Charles Haden Spurgeon, that great preacher from England in the 19th century, said, “A time will come when instead of shepherds feeding the sheep, the church will have clowns entertaining the goats.” How true.
There’s a lot of entertainment going on, the entertainment of unbelievers, who are goats who want to be tickled, who want to be amused when they come to church on Sunday. Well, there’s another form of entertainment that is all the buzz, and that has to do with what’s going
On with the war in Israel. People want to know what’s going on, and that’s a good thing. And yet, when it comes to the war that is going on in Israel, more than just being aware, there are those who are capitalizing on what’s taking place for, in some cases,
For their own avarice, their own greedy purposes. They are fearmongering in our society. They’re creating a stir and anxiety, a worry which addicts people emotionally to their content. And so, there are some people in hysterics in the day and age in which we live, and they may be thinking
That we are right there; we’re on the precipice of the war of Gog and Magog that is going to be unfolding or in the minds of some people, a supposed war from Psalm 83 with the inner ring of nations close to the land of Israel. They’re saying this is all coming together,
And the Arabic nations are going to be declaring war against Israel, and Iran’s proxies are going to be all a part of that. And so, there is a lot of buzz in society, just generally connected with the Israeli War and with prophecy. People are predicting that Jesus’ coming is going to
Happen today or tomorrow when we don’t know the day or the hour when Jesus will come back. Yes, we believe in the doctrine of imminence, in the imminent return of Jesus. We’re “looking for the Blessed Hope and the appearing of the glory of our great God and Savior Christ Jesus” (Titus 2).
But we don’t know when that time is. But there are people who are capitalizing on the fear, and they are not in the know. They are spouting information that they should not be communicating. And so, it’s helpful for us, when we have a sense of knowledge on a military basis,
What is the state of our country from a military standpoint, potentially what is the state of Israel, and most lay people have no idea really what is going on. But we have a couple of men,

Us a sense of understanding along those lines. John, let’s go ahead and start with you, okay? My name is John Hicks; I’m an aerospace engineer. I spent my entire career as a federal civil servant out at Edwards Air Force Base testing and developing military aircraft,
And a lot of them are still in use today. In fact, one of the biggest things that I did was the F-16, which Israel has 175 of those still in operation. So, I was a flight test engineer. Very good. And there’s a unique background you had with the F-16, the formation of that?
Yes, well, I was the lead performance engineer and also on what the military calls the SCB, the Source Evaluation Board. I selected the F-16 for the Air Force, and it’s a super-fighter that’s all over the world. So that’s my background. Okay, very good. Thank you, John.
Jason, tell us a little bit about what your background is. My name is Jason Porter. I work at Edwards Air Force Base currently. I’m on the B-52 program as a mechanic, lead mechanic. So, we do
A lot of testing of new weapons and different new systems on aircraft. Also, at Edwards, I did work on F-16s as well before I was working on B-52s. And then, previously, I worked on KC-135 tankers that refuel other airplanes, and I also worked on C-5 Galaxy aircraft, which is the largest cargo
Airplane we have. So, I have quite an extensive background on turning wrenches on aircraft. And then, back in the ’90s, I was active duty in the military in the Air Force, also working on B-52s. So, I’ve been there operationally also. That’s my basic background. Excellent. Fantastic.
And Jim, can you see why I thought it’d be a good idea to have you come forward? I know I didn’t give you much notice. Yeah, thank you. I’ve been doing this for a long, long time,
But I had a little deviation and actually was in the medical field. But early in my career, I was working on air defense systems with the Air Force, Navy, and Army. And then, just recently, in the last 12 years, I’ve been working with the F/A-18 over at China Lake, all the aircraft that
Fly off the aircraft carriers, and a lot of them are currently doing strikes today, and they’re heavily involved over there. Also in China, Taiwan, also in Ukraine, also in Cuba. So, also, we’ve got—it’s all over the place. But I’m also a tester,
And I’ve also been assigned to strike forces. And currently, we’re really having a lot of frustration with the current administration because we have to do scenarios and calculate loss of life and preemptive strikes and stuff, and we’re really, really, really struggling right
Now with this current administration. And not just that, if you’re pro-Israel or pro-whatever, it has nothing to do with that. It’s just there’s been corruption in the current administration. It’s really a shame because we put a lot of men and women at risk, and then we’re suffering losses,

But to show you how ignorant people are, news media went around and interviewed these students at Harvard, MIT, Princeton, elsewhere, and would you believe it? They asked them, you know, when they were shouting the slogan “From the river to the sea,” they asked them, “What river?” The
Students did not know what river. They didn’t even know where the Jordan River was. And they asked them what sea? And they did not know that it was the Mediterranean. These people are ignorant, unbelievably ignorant. But they bought into the propaganda. They bought into the “Join

Called Fattah-1 and Fattah-2. The Fattah-1, which is a two-stage solid propellant rocket, was introduced in June of last year into service. So it’s brand new. It can do MOC 10, MOC 12. That’s your hypersonic bugaboo that the press has put out there about the terrible new weapons.
The problem is we don’t know how much of that is propaganda and how much of it is real capability. The second missile they put out, Fattah-2, was just introduced to the public this past November. It’s a two-stage with liquid. They’re the only ones that could reach Israel. But you have to
Ask yourself, “How much of that is propaganda and how much of it is reality?” The problem, if it’s ballistic, okay, there’s no particular guidance. They’re going to be bombing Jordan, the West Bank, Iraq, Syria, you know, before they ever get to Israel. The problem is,
It not only has to be guided, but it has to be maneuverable, which is to say, it’s a hypersonic body that can avoid the Iron Dome, which Israel is very effective with, and they have the US Patriot
Missile, which is also very effective in knocking down ballistic missiles. So the only way they can get in to Israel militarily is with maneuvering hypersonic vehicles, and those are the two that they just recently introduced, and we don’t know enough about them to know if they’re a real threat
Or not. But otherwise, militarily, their Air Force, their missile force, they don’t have it, whereas Israel, if they chose to, and they have done this before, they have bombed a nuclear site, a reactor in Iraq, right on the Iranian border with F-16s, and destroyed it back in the 80s.
So they have the capability if they want to, but the big thing is they’re really trying to restrain themselves. And you hear about the civilian to military casualty ratio, okay? And they’re damning Israel for their collateral damage. You may not know that right now,
And this is from the IDF, the Israeli Defense Forces, they estimate that they have a ratio, and this is not pretty, but it’s the truth. They have a ratio of one and a half civilians to every one military that they kill, one and a half to one. Now, that sounds pretty bad,
But to give you a comparison, World War II, the Korean War, those kind of major battles, the civilian to military was two and a half to one, and I know, I looked that up in the military records. So it was two and a half to one. Nobody in a war, especially if you’re
Hiding behind people, escapes civilian casualties. They have denied. Hamas has denied having tunnels under hospitals and schools and such. But they found kilometers worth of tunnels, huge tunnels, underneath those hospitals. They have found the UN headquarters that was supposed to be for rescue;
And, all that of the Palestinians were sitting on top of a huge electric power station, which Hamas got their power from the UN. So you know, the lies and the propaganda is huge. I wanted the three of you to come here to give a sense of that from an inside perspective.
We’re not to believe all the hype. There’s a lot of falsehoods that are going out there, and even in Christian circles, there’s false information that is going out there as far as what Israel is capable of handling, what our country is capable of handling. Going full circle back
To what we were talking about from the beginning, we need to be focused on the voice of the Lord, the voice of God, and in 1 Corinthians 4:6, it says, “Do not go beyond the things which have been written.” Another translation says, “Do not go beyond what is written in the Scriptures.”
So our focus ought not to be on the military capability of Israel or our country or what’s even going on with our administration, but to get the Gospel out. People need Jesus. What is the gospel? 1 Corinthians 15 says, “For I delivered to you as of first importance what I also received:
That Christ died for our sins according to the Scriptures, that He was buried, and that He was raised on the third day according to the scriptures.” We need to believe that message, that Jesus laid down His life on that cruel cross for our sins, was bodily raised from the dead,
Trusting Him as our personal Savior and Lord, willing to turn away from anything that may be displeasing from the Lord. The Bible calls that repentance. And so touching on the voice of God, if you’re here today and don’t know Jesus yet, God’s voice has a message for you today. It’s
Tucked away in Hebrews 3:7,8, 15. “Today, if you hear His voice, do not harden your heart.” And finally, in the future, God’s voice will do the miraculous when believers who have died will hear the voice of Jesus. Jesus says in John 5:25, “Truly, truly, I say to you,
