  1. Very often this happens because gunk accumulates inside the levers and clogs up the ratcheting mechanism. You probably just need to flush them with some WD40. Search YouTube for “shifter flush”, it’s a pretty common issue.

    It’s often a frayed cable. Get the cable head out to confirm. Also I would try to spray a lubricant I. The shifter, such as tri flow. I wouldn’t use a cleaner, such as wd-40.
