Przedostatni z dziewięciu odcinków trasy z Trydentu przez Borgo Valsugana, Seren Del Grappa, Treviso, Wenecję, Padwę, Viecenzę, Arcugnano, Weronę, Avio do Trydentu.
Trasa z Werony do Avio to jeden z najpiękniejszych fragmentów tegorocznej wyprawy. Rozpoczyna się w sercu Wenecji Euganejskiej, w historycznej Weronie, a kończy w malowniczej miejscowości Avio, położonej u stóp Alp.

Trasa jest łatwa, z nieznacznymi wzniesieniami. Przebiega głównie wzdłuż rzeki Adyga, między winnicami, zdarzają się gaje oliwne. Po drodze mija się wiele uroczych miejscowości, takich jak Bussolengo, Rivoli Veronese, Rivalta Veronese i Belluno Veronese.
Wyruszamy spod hostelu B&B In Arena L’Opera i od razu kierujemy się na Piaza Bra, aby jeszcze raz rzucić okiem na starożytny amfiteatr Arena di Verona. Następnie wąskimi uliczkami kierujemy się nad rzekę Adygę, która w tym miejscu mocno meandruje. Rzekę pokonujemy rzymskim mostem łukowym Ponte Pietra i lewym brzegiem rzeki poruszamy się dość wygodnymi ścieżkami rowerowymi. Na wysokości Statua di Cesare Lombroso, tuż obok pomnika Cesare Lombroso, odbijamy w prawo i kierujemy się na most Ponte Catena, a następnie dojeżdżamy do kanału odpływowego Adygi i wzdłuż niego znów docieramy do rzeki.
Omijając zakola Adygi docieramy do miasta Bussolengo, gdzie znajduje się podobno jedyny w Europie cmentarz artystów cyrkowych.
Kolejnym miastem na trasie jest Rivoli Veronese. To średniowieczne miasteczko, położone na wzgórzu. W jego okolicach w 1797 Napoleon Bonaparte stoczył tam zwycięską bitwę z Austriakami. Warto tu zatrzymać się na chwilę, aby zwiedzić zabytkowy rynek i kościół.
Po opuszczeniu Rivoli Veronese trasa prowadzi przez płaskie albo lekko pagórkowate tereny, otoczone winnicami i niewielkimi wzgórzami. Mijamy tu niewielkie miejscowości, takie jak Rivalta Veronese, Belluno Veronese oraz Mama di Sotto. Stamtąd już blisko do Avio.
Avio jest położone u stóp masywu Monte Baldo, który jest częścią tak zwanych Prealp Włoskich, Masyw rozciąga się się wzdłuż wschodniego brzegu jeziora Garda, pomiędzy prowincjami Trento i Werona. Dzięki temu miejscowość ta oferuje piękne widoki na góry, a także na Dolinę Val Lagarina.
W tej klimatycznej i urokliwej miejscowości znajduje się kościół S. Maria Assunta (z XVII w.) z pięknym barokowym wnętrzem. Można tu również zwiedzić Muzeum Etnograficzne, które prezentuje kulturę i tradycje regionu. Jednak miasto słynie przede wszystkim z położonego na zboczu góry Avio Miasto to słynie zamku warownego Castello di Avio, który jest jednym z najważniejszych zabytków regionu.
Jestem przekonany, że każdy, kto wybierze się tę trasę i zatrzyma się w Avio będzie ujęty pięknem i klimatem okolicy.

Today we go to our penultimate last stage. We leave Verona, where we experienced a slight disadvantage when it comes to traveling by bike. Namely, it is difficult to pack more elegant clothes into bicycle luggage. If we had one, there would be a chance to watch Verdi’s opera Rigoletto in the ancient Colosseum.
The concert started at 9 p.m. and, surprisingly, there were still tickets available. It is true that we saw people entering the concert even in shorts, but we decided that both the place and the type of art require some respect.
The second place in Verona, which of course every trip and every tourist must visit, is the famous balcony where Juliet looked out for Romeo. Unfortunately, upon arrival, right in front of our noses, the gate was closed. it turned out that the balcony and the yard, which you can enter,
Were only open until 7 p.m., but at ten to 7 p.m., just like in Italian, the gate was already closed and… Well, unfortunately we didn’t see this attraction, probably the most crowded one. At least we have two reasons to return to Verona.
Besides, we like Verona very much, even though it is – of the cities we saw this year – one of the most crowded. Of course, not like Venice, but… But there are a lot of tourists here.
What’s interesting about Verona is that most of the streets of the old town are open to traffic, at least the local one. And despite the huge pedestrian traffic, everyone somehow manages to fit in. No one gets nervous, at least we haven’t seen anyone get nervous about a car passing by
Or a pedestrian getting out of the road too slowly. A beautiful bicycle path, a wide sidewalk, and people, just like in Poland, also walk on the paths. It’s not like we’re the only one who still doesn’t have this culture of walking on sidewalks and bike paths.
The situation is similar everywhere, maybe with the exception of Germany and the Netherlands… And we even meet Jehovah’s Witnesses along the bicycle route. Wet… It’s probably a leaky pipe… Can we take a break? The worst thing is to start uphill.
To be honest, this is a rare situation, at least I have the impression that the river flows through a channel in the mountainside, not through a valley. I just wonder whether it is artificially guided here, or whether it was its natural course, which was only regulated later.
Once we entered the route along the river, we noticed that bicycle traffic had increased significantly. Observations show that 80% of cyclists ride road bikes. The route takes us up the river, but we have the impression that we are going down. And if it weren’t for the wind blowing in our faces,
We probably wouldn’t even have to pedal that much. I don’t know if everything can be called an illusion, but water rarely flows upwards on its own 😉 An interesting solution are special viaducts for cyclists that lead over busy roads. It is very comfortable and safe.
It’s a pity I don’t have a spirit level with me, because we’re really going downhill. I don’t know if it will be visible in the video, but the road clearly leads down. Well, the river flows in the opposite direction. So that’s an interesting fact. We will have to go around this rock,
Which means we will go up on serpentines. I don’t know who this speed limit is for – 30 per hour. It’s hard for me to achieve even 10 per hour here. The heart rate immediately jumped to 160 beats per minute.
Despite the bushes and even small trees around us, we leave in the sun, which does not make the ascent easier. Esterka mercifully waited for us, but this isn’t the end of the driveway yet, right? I don’t know why they put up these fans when they stand there and don’t cool the air 😉
Fortunately, most of the climbs are followed by a joyful descent. And after the descent, the driveway… It was past noon – probably a good time for a coffee break. After driving around quite a large mountain and a small climb along serpentines, we returned to the canal we had been driving through since Verona.
This, as it turns out, looks like a branch of the Adige River, which was artificially routed here and probably flows to the hydroelectric power plant that we passed in one of the previous towns. There’s a branch stuck to me… Okay! Let’s go! We have about 10 kilometers to the end of today’s stage.
And the wind direction changed – surprisingly – to our advantage. The wind started to blow at our backs, so we caught some wind in our sails. Esterka, only 3 kilometers more, there will be a road to the left…
The path will lead straight, but we have to turn left to go down to Avio. Once again, a bicycle turns out to be an equally fast means of transport, and in some places even faster than a car, at least at this point on the highway.
This is how we slowly reach the destination of our today’s stage, which is the tiny town of Avio. This is our quarters today. Our timing is very good, because we read that check-in time is from 3:00 p.m., and we managed to arrive at 3:02 p.m.,
So there is a chance that we will check in, although everywhere is quiet. But we don’t lose hope. They probably didn’t notice us so quickly… – I guess not…
