Hello all,

You may remember my previous post from the end of last year after my colleague was in an accident (or incident) with his electric Brompton.

He luckily walked away with no injuries but the bike is gone for. The back of the frame has been bent, so it doesn’t fold and you can’t ride it anymore.

Since then the insurance payout has come through so he got a nice new Electric Brompton (and new trainers as well!).

However the bike (excluding battery and charger) are still at our offices in Farringdon, London.

I was hoping if there are people in this subreddit who would be interested in buying this broken bike for parts, or if anyone would know how best to get ‘rid’ of it.

Some pictures below.

Geel free to reach out in the comments or PM. It’s a black model built in 2020.

Thanks

  1. Thanks to being a folding bike with worldwide appeal someone can easily change the rear triangle with a new one and we have a good folding price again

  2. Hopefully it’s just the triangle. Might be worth going to a Brompton dealer to have a talk with them, if they can look at it in realtime, go to the mechanic not the sales guy! If you have a mechanic that works all day on these then they will quickly see things or better not see things that are wrong. They can probably also give you an estimate of what it’s worth.
Just checked online, the rear triangle part is about 150 UK pounds. If the wheels, frame, front fork are straight.
Chain, sprockets like 30UK . .Only thing that might be expensive is a battery, but if your colleague fixes this one up it can be the other spare bike to ride.

You assess the damage, buy replacement parts, learn how the bike works, install said new parts and ride an electric brompton.
