  1. The cable from the displays are prone to come slightly uninserted. Remove the display cable from the display and firmly put it back until it clicks.

My Shimano did that and it took a couple attempts to get it just right. It hasn’t come out since then.

The power button down under the shock has its own small battery that wakes up the whole ebike system when you turn it on. This battery may be dead on your bike. Depending on whether its a Shimano button or a Darfon/Santa Cruz button you may need to remove the button from the frame and plug it in to charge for a while.

The power source is supposed to charge when the bike is being ridden or charged but sometimes they get low and need to be charged independently.

  4. Happened to my built ended up being the on switch it runs on its own battery and charges when in use on rides. If it’s not getting used enough or short rides it does not charge the battery and dies.
Bike shop was able to charge it but got charged for it. It happened again and I emailed Santa Cruz and they sent out a new one switch free of charge and fast and has been perfect.

  5. Happened to me once, felt like a heart attack. What I did was I blew some air into the charging port and the plug, reset the ep8 system and it worked.

  6. I’ve never seen that happen before. I was the supervisor for the heckler production at the Santa Cruz bike factory up until October and we have seen anything like that before. I’ve seen a lot of errors as we made and tested them. But not that one. Might be best to reprogram it. A lbs might be able to help with it but reaching out to SCB customer service could be best.
