I got a new set of tires that don’t fit the rims on my rim brake bike. But I have another set of disc brake rims that the tires fit on.

I took off the rotor, but the spacing of the rim between the fork is off set because of where the rotor connects (don’t know the term, but see the pic).

My question is how this affects performance? Is it safe? Will it give me wobbles? This seems like a obvious no to me, but now I’m just curious to how it works.

  1. It’s fine as long as the rim is actually machined for rim brakes. Some disk wheels were made to go both ways and some were disk only

  2. Are you sure the wheel is all the way in the dropouts? The wheel should still be aligned whether disc or not
