Can I just replace it with any 1x crankset? Ideally it the chainring would be in the spot of the middle one for better chain line. The 3×6 is awful on this ebike, I accelerate and end up using the fastest gear for 99% of time anyway. I’ll probably think about upgrading the rear wheel, derailleur and casette for 9 speed or so later. Would I need some chain catching device if I don’t get a compatible narrow wide? On this bike I’m riding on flat roads only anyway.

It’s probably doable, but may require experimenting with different BB lengths (i.e square taper) to maintain a functional chainline.

Where is the motor and battery?
A hub motor only uses the gear that is inside the motor and is independent of bike gears
If you had a mid drive motor like a bbs02 or bbshd it would use your bikes gears and would give it climbing gears and fast gears.
Mid drive is inherently 1 x

It is probably possible, but why? It looks like a normal commuter bike. What are you trying to accomplish? It is not gonna ride better with a 1x . I would suggest replacing the chainrings, chain and sprocket with new parts. Way cheaper and rides like new again.

A 6 speed 3x bike is already a single speed for 90% of users. Just middle chainring it to infinity, don’t waste time with mods.

You can but the rear derailleur and chainring aren’t built to run without the front derailleur so the chain will be free to jump off the chainring when hitting bumps.
