WE FIND 1980’S RC TRACK BURIED IN THE WOODS

It started out as a fun session with a couple of RC cars at our local pump track and ended up being the first step in uncovering a piece of RC car history.
We uncover the old St Alban RC car track that has been dormant for over 30 years. The track is over run with trees but can we get it back up and running.
This could be another Popalong project for the summer – exciting times ahead.

That was that was quick hello welcome to popong RC I’m in the middle of the woods here although I’m not really in the middle of the woods um we found something very special on this particular shoot we are here to video the FTX Carnage at our local pump track

Which is s Auburn’s pump track cotton cotton mill but whilst we were here we’ve discovered something really quite interesting He right I got a challenge for you so the challenge is basically actually I think the sun’s coming out now the challenge is you’ve got to get that car around this part of the track here and then back where we going uh around here and then back up there

Tell pretty good going here I think I’ve Got The Edge on him there definitely uh my driving skills are out wait he’s oh actually maybe not all right um I think he takes a win on that so so has broken so the shock Tower is gone now there’s two reasons why that shock

Tower’s gone number one you’re not very good at driving actually has three reasons then I’m not very good at driving number two is that it’s freezing cold out here number three we’re at a pump track and things get broken at pump tracks and skate parks don’t they we

Know that it’s not our regular thing so to come here and have a go was fun actually but before that broke I actually quite like the car um got a little LED has popped out here oh we can f that fix that one thing to note though

For all the for the um the Carnage Advantage the bugstar um and alike they all have upgrades you can get for these cars so I believe you can get a carbon fiber shock tower for these and they also do alley shock towers as well so

It’s this is an out of the box setup but um you can upgrade these cars which is what I like about some of the FTX cars now then there are bikers starting to arrive so I think we’re going to have to vacate I think our time here is done our

In Sans and my brother-in-law and my father-in-law they used to race here so if we in and have a little look we might be able to find a track think that’s down this bit we went we went down the wrong way so this was it this used to

Be see if we can see any remnants of the old track so look look perfect look at that look at that so that is that’s the curb that is a curb of the track right there so this was it this how long ago must have that been if

If all these trees are sprited like that but there is actually a track here so that was a curve of a track so if anybody knows any any more about Shan’s RC car TR if you got any maybe we could I don’t know maybe is it something we

Could do to try and get it up and running definitely cuz I mean if we sweep this through for off-road stuff like this I think the TRU goes down there yeah come up here all right so we see if we can see some more curbs so there’s one here

When this track was in its kind of former glory if you like um I think this is definitely something we should look into perhaps resurrecting as I know a few people are on it already so maybe just maybe this could be something new do you know what this is this is a bit

Of RC history here but I don’t think it would take much to get it up and running we’ve had a little clear here with some sticks and you can see that the tarmac underneath there I’ll tell you what a few of us with some brooms I was only

Using a stick but you could definitely clear the track the only issue is the trees that have grown in the way but as we said this used to be chn’s radio control car club and there is remnants of it here so let’s see if we can get
