I could apply to to certain haunted places and  I really I discovered a lot so what I learned is   that when a specific place is the location for  a lot of violence pain Bloodshed and death It  

Is believed that this place will hold on to that  energy and that energy can manifest itself in some   mysterious and sometimes terrifying ways there  have always been theories that some areas hold   leftover traces from the people who lived and or  died there for examp example visitors to the ashz

Around us and if that energy is strong enough we  can feel it and if any place has negative energy   strong enough for humans to pick up on it’s  LEP castle and that brings us to the bloody   history of the castle and its grounds that have  stood and have been witnessed to the evidence  

Of human depravity and its capacity for violence  for over 700 years it is believed that left Castle   was built sometime in the 13th century during a  period when much of Ireland was again ruled by   Irish Clans after the defeat of the Normans this  is a time period known as the Gaelic Resurgence  

A system of Clans was the basis of society in  Ireland up until the 17th century and Clan is   a Gaelic word meaning family and Ireland was the  Cradle of Gaelic Society a clan was a territorial   group sometimes family sometimes not they shared  a common name but they believed that they were  

Descended from the same ancestor and in this clan  a chief or chief would be selected to lead and   to protect the integrity and the territory of  his Kinsmen leadership of Irish Clans was not   decided by primogeniture which means succession  of the eldest son we’ve seen this for centuries  

In England if the king at that time had a son that  son would take the throne if that King had several   Sons it would be the oldest son if the king had  no Sons like Henry VII well I mean Henry VII did  

Technically have a son we forget about him because  he sucked but let’s say the king died the son took   over the son sucked and then he died too and all  that’s left are you know daughters sisters like I  

Don’t know Queen Elizabeth and Queen Mary so next  the eldest daughter would take over that’s why   Mary went first and then Elizabeth followed and  and I actually interestingly enough we’re going   to talk about Mary and Elizabeth later on in this  video but the clans of Ireland did not use this  

Instead they used a system called tanistry meaning  the eldest and the worthiest of the family group   of the current or previous chiefton would take  power and this could include Sons as well as   brothers nephews a first or second cousin anyone  really it didn’t matter as long as they proved  

Themselves to be strong and worthy of leading  the clan and protecting the clan but this did   not always happen peacefully and the transition of  power did sometimes often represent a survival of   the fittest struggle or survival of whoever was  willing to do the very worst things to seize the  

Power and chiefship of his clan case in point the  Oban Clan who are the ones credited with building   LEP Castle even before the foundation was laid two  Oban brothers were competing against each other to   become Chieftain of their Clan after their father  died and apparently the only way to settle this  

Dispute was by a display of both strength and  bravery and I guess someone thought that it would   be both strong and brave to jump from the top of  a rocky cliff on the future site of LEP Castle the  

Stubbornness and ego of men sometimes will never  cease to amaze me so in in this situation with   the alanan brothers both brothers would jump and  whoever survived would take control of the clan   now we don’t know which brother survived or what  the fate of the other brother was we don’t know  

If either brother survived maybe the person who  convinced them that leaping off of a cliff was a   good idea was the one who actually wanted to be  Chieftain and he was like these two idiots are  

Going to jump off this cliff and kill each other  and I’m going to take over we don’t know what   happened but we do know the original Celtic name  of the castle was lame uan or leap of the banion I  

Probably butchered that Celtic pronunciation but I  encourage you to to do better it is believed that   even before the obanion found themselves standing  at the precipice of this Cliff the land they would   one day build their Castle on had already been  used by The Druids for initiation ceremonies now  

As I said at the top of the video the history and  the mythology of Ireland as well as Scotland have   really fascinated me forever I love it I love  it I can’t get enough of it I cannot wait until  

One day I can visit both Ireland in Scotland so  this part of the story as I was researching it   really pulled me in and once again I wish I could  make an entire video about it and just talk about  

That but that is not what we’re here to do today  so I’m going to give you a brief history of The   Druids the native inhabitants of Ireland were the  Kelts and 1500 years ago a special Priestly class  

Of people who claimed to have magical powers and  a secret knowledge of the world lived among the   Kelts these were the Druids keepers of the Pagan  religion who were as powerful and influential as   the Celtic Kings and The Druids not only had the  power to act as intermediaries between the gods  

And the Mortal realm but they were able to do  a whole bunch of things that were written about   things that any normal human even a king would not  be able to do it is said they could create a mist  

Or rain or start fires at will they could do a  whole bunch of like magical stuff and this caused   them to be both respected and feared as you might  imagine although the earliest written record we   have of The Druids comes from Julius Caesar it’s  believed The Druids have been active since the  

Earliest periods of human history with some of the  earliest evidence of the Druid spiritual tradition   being from 25,000 years ago and these were found  in the form of cave paintings throughout areas   of Europe specifically France it’s believed these  caves were used for the initi initiation rights of  

The Druids with candidates for initiation crawling  into the caves so that they could emerge and be   reborn into the light and this theme of rebirth as  well as the theme of death can be seen throughout   the entire history of The Druids with Julius  Caesar observing that The Druids did not view  

Death in the same way that many people at that  time did Caesar noted quote the Cardinal Doctrine   which they seek to teach is that Souls do not die  but after death pass from one to another the Fe

Violence especially when it is socially acceptable  which it was during the times when people were   being hanged drawn and quartered and which it was  during the times of The Druids when a nobody was   going to tell these Druid priests you can’t do  that cuz you know they have magic and they could  

Just strike you down with the bolt of life so even  before there was a castle built on these lands   these types of ritual sacrifices were taking place  tons and tons of blood pouring into the Earth tons   of pain tons of torture tons of death and sadness  being released into the environment as energy  

Now we’re going to talk about the O Carol Clan a  Fierce and brutal people bent on domination at any   cost and they came into possession of LEP castle  in the late 15th century and it would remain  

In their clan for over a century and a half now  apparently there’s a whole story about how the O   carols even ended up in this area it appears that  they were in a different area of Ireland and they  

Were just so violent so ruthless they were chased  out of their area so they ended up in county offy   and They Came Upon LEP castle in the obanion and  they were like where are your new overlords and  

This is our Castle now and they had a reputation  that followed them or preceded them or both the   alans were like have at it man like you okay  boss take it originally from elely a medieval   Kingdom in the southern part of the modern County  of offley and parts of North tippery the warlike  

O carols had earned themselves the title of the  O carols of the red and spear because no matter   which other neighboring Clans attempted to claim  any of the O Carol’s land for their own they were  

Very rarely successful and if the O carols wanted  some of your land for their own which they often   did they were always successful the real trouble  came when England who at that time was trying to  

Take large swaths of Ireland for their own began  to encroach on o Carrol territory and that is when   the stronghold of lap Castle became a strategic  place for the clan to guard the pass through the   sleeve Bloom Mountains for a long time the O  carols were targets of not only the English  

Crown but other Irish Clans including the Butlers  who had been their mortal enemies for hundreds   of years years now the Legends will tell you that  the Bloodshed at LEP Castle began with two o Carol   Brothers in the mid 16th century but don’t get it  twisted there was plenty of blood spilled inside  

And outside that castle far before then whether  from outside forces or from within because the   OK carols handled leadership disputes the same  way they had for Centuries by killing anyone who   opposed them whether that person was a brother  a father or a son in 1532 the current o Carol  

Chieftain m o Carol passed away causing a fierce  rivalry for leadership to break out amongst his   surviving relatives but specifically two of his  sons one of which was the clan priest and honestly   it doesn’t really seem like the son who was the  priest wanted the leadership role but the other  

Son just wanted to make sure he wouldn’t get it in  case he ever felt like he wanted it so one night   the OC caral priest was saying mass for a group of  people in the castle chapel and as he was chanting  

The holy rights the door of the chapel banged open  revealing his brother fatty o Carol without a word   fatty strowed up to his brother the priest and  thrust his sword clean through him killing him   instantly now the act of murdering someone during  prayer especially if that person is a priest would  

Be considered the ultimate Wicked act and pure  blasphemy not to mention the horrific concept of   one brother killing another to sees power that it  seems the priest brother was never interested in   to begin with like I said that he was just worried  worried that his brother’s mere existence would  

Always pose a threat to his leadership because  of this evil act the location it was committed   in would then and forever be known as the bloody  chapel and the dead priest is said to still haunt   the chapel attempting to finish saying his Mass  but unable to get the words out forever tortured  

And he is known as one of the earliest ghosts  to inhabit lap Castle reportedly off the bloody   Chapel is something called an ubet and this is  a word that means a little place of forgetting   because it’s basically a hidden dungeon located in  a place where no light can reach those being held  

There now this to me is one of the scariest most  terrifying parts of LEP castles and many castles   built during the Middle Ages have an ubet of their  own and they’re usually narrow pits dug into the  

Ground not in a basement or some unseen Place deep  beneath the castle but built into the walls or   floors in many of the most well populated areas of  the castle and that’s why this ubat was allegedly   built off the bloody Chapel because the bloody  Chapel became a place where the O carols would  

Hold feasts and host outof town guests or host  other friendly Clans and this was strategically   done so that the victims inside the oat would  be surrounded by the sounds of Life while they   rotted away of starvation in the darkness of their  whole now in the case of LEP Castle the oat was  

A little room with a drop floor and and prisoners  from Waring Clans or English prisoners they would   often be placed on this floor and then the floor  would drop out from underneath them and they would   basically be thrown into this dungeon to fall 8  ft onto spikes sticking out from the floor below  

Now those who were not lucky enough to get a quick  death on the spikes would face gradual death from   starvation while they could hear the sounds of  people eating drinking and carrying on around   them they could smell the aroma of roasting meat  from above they could hear the sounds of chales  

Being clinked together in a cheers while the  men toasted each other you know slancha and all   of that and like I said they did all of this in a  room that was not only pitch black but filled with

All was said and done three cartloads of human  remains were removed from lap castle that day   but it is often said the spirits of those tortured  Souls remained behind there is also another story   from the O Carol Clans extended stay at LEP the  legend goes that the OK carols agreed to pay 40  

Members of the the McMahon Clan to train them in  new methods of warfare and while being treated   as visitors of the castle the McMahon’s attended a  banquet thrown in their honor in the bloody Chapel   what they didn’t know is that their food had been  poisoned simply so that the O carols wouldn’t have  

To pay them and a written account from father  gleon a priest present for this crime says that   after the 40 men died the O carols became unhinged  cutting the heads off of their victims and kicking   them like footballs out the castle windows and  onto the grounds below the ghosts of these 40 men  

Are said to still haunt the grounds of LEP Castle  to this day moaning and wandering looking for   their heads in the mid 1500s rebellions broke out  all over the country pushing back against English   rule in Ireland during the reign of Mary tutor  also known as Bloody Mary due to the amount of  

Protestants she killed during her attempts to turn  everyone Catholic which was super confusing for   everybody since her sister Elizabeth would later  try to make everyone into a Protestant and before   both women tried to exert their control over every  single person in their Kingdom which stretched you  

Know through England through Ireland and on and  on and on before them their father Henry VII he   didn’t know if he wanted people to be Catholic  or Protestant his opinion would change based on   whoever he was married to at the time now in 1558  Captain John Darby with the British forces was  

Taken prisoner at LEP castle and this SC seemingly  small decision something that the OC carols had   done to English soldiers as often as they could  it would prove to be their undoing and it would   end up placing LEP Castle into the hands of an  Englishman not through War not through violence  

But through Love and Marriage reportedly Captain  Darby was being kept in a Cell located at the   top of the castle and an O Carol daughter phola  would often sneak him food and the two would talk   into the late hours of the night eventually and  inevitably falling head over heels for each other  

One day Finola heard her brother was hatching a  plan to kill Captain Darby and she knew that she   needed to find a way to free her lover so that he  could escape with his life and they could run away  

And be together Finola was able to sneak away with  the key to Darby’s cell but her brother tipped   off to his sister’s plan raced to the top of the  castle to put a stop to it so while the brother  

Was on his way up a spiral staircase Captain Darby  who had already been released he was on his way   down and when the two men encountered each other  they began to tussle and this was was a fight that  

Ended with the O Carol brother at the bottom of  the staircase dead from a broken neck Finola o   Carol would eventually marry Captain John Darby  and this began the Darby era of LEP Castle Finola   and John’s descendants would hold the castle for  the next Century or so but their love story sadly  

Did not have a happy ending it is said that John  Derby descended into madness possibly due to a   curse placed on him for taking the life of an OC  Carol CL Clansman in his own castle Darby became  

Obsessed with money and he would hide stacks  of cash around the castle so that no one could   find the money and take it but then he would  forget where he stashed the money away which is  

So relatable and I mean actually listen it’s not  like he just forgot overnight he hid the money and   then he was arrested and imprisoned for a short  time I feel like for something Financial related  

Like he didn’t pay something or he didn’t pay his  taxes or he didn’t do something so he was put in   jail for a little while when he got out of jail  he forgot where he put the money and Darby then  

Became driven to find his hidden money and he  could always be seen wandering the halls of the   castle tapping on walls and mumbling to himself  it’s also a leld rumor that Darby had hired two   servants to help him hide his money and before  going to jail he murdered them to not only keep  

Them quiet but so that they wouldn’t go and steal  his money while he was imprisoned now some people   say the ghost of John Derby still wanders LEP  castle looking for his misplaced money which he  

Never found by the way which means it could still  be there if he ever put it there to begin with he   may have just been crazy and thought he had all  this money that he was stashing away and hiding  

But who knows either way very interesting in 1889  Finola and Captain Darby’s descendant Jonathan   Charles Darby was in possession of LEP Castle when  he married Mildred Dill on November 6th of that   year Mildred was 20 years old 15 years younger  than her new husband and she was known to be  

Exceptional she was intelligent she was educated  at Oxford she was outspoken high-spirited full of   energy and it was said that she could ride and  shoot as good as any man but more than anything   Mildred wanted to be a writer something she spent  a lot of time practicing during her marriage since  

Her husband Jonathan Darby was known to be away  often and when he was home it was reported that   he was miserable always yelling at his wife and  their four children mild would actually go on to   publish several short stories under the pen name  Andrew Mary because you know she was a woman and  

Women couldn’t write back in the day and her  writings reflected Mildred’s interest in all   things Supernatural and spooky and she actually  wrote a lot of other things I don’t want to just   you know take credit away from her and say all she  wrote was like Supernatural and spooky stuff that  

Stuff came later she wrote an amazing short story  about the Irish Potato Famine and how it affected   people so horribly and how nobody was helping  and things like that and you know for somebody   who had privilege for somebody who had money and  didn’t have to worry about going hungry it was a  

Huge level of self-awareness and empathy that you  know is very respectable so I don’t want to just   say she wrote ghost stories you know however she  did eventually come to be incredibly interested   in ghosts the supernatural seances stuff like that  and she often wrote about lap castle and all the  

Things she witnessed to there now in her story she  called it kilman Castle because she didn’t want   people to know that it was her right writing and  her husband Jonathan Derby he obviously figured it   out soon enough and he was real pissed real pissed  because not only did she make the castle sound  

Like this house of horrors basically which I mean  I’m not saying that it wasn’t right she says she   witnessed to these things and honestly I believe  her but she did not paint Jonathan Derby in the  

Best light so she called lap Castle in her stories  kilman castle and she spoke of its many ghosts and   ter Ying entities but like I said there’s no  doubt that Mildred was talking about her home   specifically Mildred wrote about the elemental  this is a fantasm from Beyond that’s believed  

To have been activated by a psychic disturbance  in 1920 after the workmen opened the oblates and   removed the bones of those who had died there now  in her story Mildred does not write about herself   she writes about herself but in a way where you  wouldn’t know it was her so the protagonist in  

Her story is a man named captain Gordon who was  staying at kilman Castle when late one night he   was awoken with a start to find someone’s icy hand  placed in his Gordon obviously kind of jolted up  

And then he heard a loud bump like a body was  falling to the floor followed by the sound of a   deep groan so he’s thinking somebody got in bed  with me like a creep and when I woke up and you  

Know sort of like started and and made a movement  this person fell onto the floor so taking a candle   he peered under his bed and as he was doing that  Gordon placed his hand on the floor to support  

Himself and he placed his hand into something wet  and sticky that was on the floor now the next day   Captain Gordon would tell his host Betty what had  happened to him he said quote I held it close to  

The light and saw my fingertips and the ball of  my hand were rened as if with blood and turning   back the rug I discovered a dark stain extending  perhaps for two feet one way and three or four  

The other and quote the next day the blood stain  was still on the floor but it had dried now Betty   Gra ly informed Captain Gordon that she was not  surprised to hear this at all she said odd things  

Like that had become commonplace at kilman Castle  and she shared her own experience with something   called the elemental but she referred to the  elemental simply as it she said she’d been   changing for bed one night when suddenly she  felt two hands placed on her shoulders she said  

Quote I turned around sharply and saw a gray thing  standing a couple feet from me with its bent arms   raised as if it were cursing me I cannot describe  in words how utterly awful the thing was its very   undefinable rendering the horrible Shadow more  gruesome human in shape a little shorter than  

I am I could just make out the shape of big black  holes like eyes and sharp features but the whole   figure head face hands and all was gray unclean  bluish gray something of the color and appearance   of common cotton wool but oh so Sinister  repulsive and devilish my friends who are clever  

About occult things say it is what they call an  elemental end quote now an elemental is reportedly   a Mythic supernatural being that’s described in  occult Works around the time of the Renaissance   Elementals are nature spirits that are linked to  specific elements they are supposedly conscious  

Four-dimensional beings of pure spiritual energy  and this specific Elemental could be detected when   the temperature in the room suddenly dropped and  this would be followed by a sickly sweet odor and   an overwhelming sense of evil and fear and dread  now Betty is explaining something that Mildred  

Claims happened to her directly Mildred describes  running into the elemental again saying quote the   thing was about the size of a sheep thin gaunt and  shadowy in Parts its face was human or to be more   accurate inhuman in its vess with large holes of  Blackness For Eyes loose slobbery lips and a thick  

Saliva dripping jaw sloping back suddenly in into  its neck nose it had none only spreading cancerous   cavities the whole face being one uniform tint  of gray end quote and like I said although these   experiences about kilman castle are written about  in a work of fiction Mildred always insisted they’  

Actually happened to her and she talked about this  in letters she wrote to friends at the time she   wasn’t just writing about this in fictional Works  she was writing to her friends and saying this  

Happened to me today I saw the elemental again I  sensed it in the room I smelled it she wrote to a   lot of her friends about this she also wrote about  other Spirits such as a woman in red a monk-like  

Figure who would often be seen in the school room  and the apparitions of two young girls who are   often called Emily and Charlotte now these girls  are said to have lived at the castle during the  

1600s and they can often be seen playing in the  mail Hall it’s said that Emily died at the age of   11 after falling from the Castle’s battlements  and reportedly there are still sightings of a   little girl falling from the top of the castle CLE  Vanishing before she reaches the ground so people  

Who have visited just tourists they say they’ll  just be wandering the grounds and they’ll see a   little girl falling they won’t hear a shout they  won’t hear anything they’ll just see the body of   a little girl falling and they’ll Rush they’ll  rush to that that part of the castle to save  

Her or give her medical attention but as they’re  running there and as they’re watching her right   before she touches the ground she disappears  Mildred Darby had also heard that there were   hidden areas in the castle secret doorways and  obscured staircases now during the Irish Civil  

War LEP Castle was set Ablaze in July of 1922 and  Jonathan and Mild Derby along with their children   had vacated the estate the previous March once  they heard rumors that their home had become a   target of the IRA because they were technically  English you know I mean they were English even  

Though I guess the Darby line was half English  and half Irish they were English as far as the   IRA knew and what happened is the Darby’s left  behind a few servants and they paid them to watch  

The castle and care for the grounds while they  were gone now the people who you know tried to   destroy LEP Castle they came on two consecutive  nights the first night there was just a bunch of   looting you know they took everything they could  take they broke a bunch of stuff just trying to  

Destroy and and cause chaos the second night they  came back to set a fire and the people who had   been paid to watch the grounds were the steward  and his wife and they were there on the evening  

Of the fire and they claimed they were forced at  gunpoint to let the arsonists inside the entire   westwing of the castle was destroyed and for  the next several decades the castle loomed in   the distance empty and desolate except for when  you know the candles would just light up and then  

Extinguish out of nowhere but then australian-born  Peter Bartlett purchased it in 1972 reportedly   Peter was a historian who had personal ties  to LEP his mother had been in albanyan and   his mission was to restore the castle to her  former glory sadly Bartlett died in 1989 with  

His plans unfinished but 2 years later LEP Castle  was purchased by Shawn Ryan and his wife and they   began to slowly finish the restoration now it  was during this time that several discoveries   and hidden relics were Unearthed hidden nooks and  crannies such as the priests hide were discovered  

The priest’s hide it it’s exactly what it sounds  like it was a hidden chamber built into the wall   where priests could hide during the Catholic  persecution in Ireland now several Oddities   were also found such as Windows being boarded up  from the inside and the outside for no apparent  

Reason and more than one spiral staircase was  found permanently hidden behind walls that were   constructed to look as if they’d always been  there and why somebody would board up Windows   from the inside and the outside why somebody  would completely hide spiral staircases it’s  

A mystery to me but I guess that mild Darby was  correct and there’d be no way for her to know   that right so she claimed that she’d heard about  hidden passageways hidden staircases things like   that from the spirits that inhabited lap Castle  she didn’t have confirmation this confirmation  

Didn’t come until decades after she was dead and  gone but I guess the spirits gave her accurate   information now why would the spirits want milder  Derby to know about these hidden passageways these   hidden staircases did these passageways and  staircases lead to something that was important  

To the spirits was something hidden there that was  consequential to these Spirits I have no idea but   it’s very interesting today LEP Castle continues  to stand as a testament to Ireland’s rich and   enigmatic past it welcomes visitors from around  the world inviting them to explore its storied  

Halls and contemplate the Mysteries that still  linger in the shadows the spirits of LEP Castle   both benevolent and malevolent still watch over  this ancient Fortress forever guarding its secrets   and beckoning those who Venture within to listen  closely to The Whispers of its history and so in  

The heart of Ireland LEP Castle remains a place  where the past and present converge where legend   and reality entwine much like Ireland itself so  that’s all I have for you about LEP Castle I want   to definitely visit this place one day see if  I can feel something if I can sense something

The windows and the glass doors of our house and  putting these window clangs all over the place   and making like villages and making stories and  making Tableau and and just you know I don’t I   don’t know like falling into this sort of fantasy  world that these window clings brought me which is  

Exactly why I chose to feature Taylor’s at se shop  today because she sells window clings and I think   people don’t respect window clings and we need to  bring them back so as of now the featured items   are very much Halloween centered there’s ghosts  and these are cool window clings okay these are  

Not the window clings of my childhood the window  clings of the 8S these are so cool looking some   of them have like sparkles or holographic the  holographic ones are so sweet but she has a bunch  

Of cute ghosts some of the ghosts have um mushroom  caps on on their little ghostly heads which I mean   I’ve never seen that before I’m really into it she  also has a flower ghost Suncatcher she has these   holographic ghost suncatchers she has a rainbow  ghost Suncatcher these are super cute so go and
