This Shimano RD-M952 arrived and I noticed one of the teeth on the tension pulley is bent.
Does this need to be replaced, and if so should I replace it with a 10 tooth pulley if I intend to use this with an 8-speed cassette? My understanding is that the derailleur is “dumb” and that the shifters and the cassette need to match, but in researching replacement parts I’ve noted a difference in replacement pulley for 8-speed (10 teeth) and 9-speed (11 teeth).

I’d replace it.
The number of teeth on the replacement pulley wheel only really matters as far as it fitting in the mech and still allowing the chain to pass through.
