That gold rack looks home made to me or has been modified for some reason but when ever its orgin it has been done well. I have a tubular type rack that looks somewhat similar in construction to the pressed steel one
I worked at a Raleigh dealer in Salt Lake City, Utah in the 1979s and once in a while we had to break out the set of Whitworth spanners. Which we call "wrenches" here in the states.
Love it. Got mine from them about 2 years ago now. Wondering about upgrading the handle stem to a more curved Dutch style. Also bought the coffee sack & some tyre wallet things.
That's a brilliant way to deal with a large surplus of RM bikes. I've probably ridden many hundreds of miles on their Pashleys, mostly the older ones, and nearly always grossly overloaded. They stood up to a great deal of abuse and neglect, left out in all weathers, but I've only seen one with a broken frame, a sheared seat tube.
Bit of a belated thank you, but I saw a comment of yours left on a fairly recent video where you recommended using a windscreen wiper return spring as a steering-damper.
As a postie in Manchester I was there when the old pashleys were phased out and the mail stars were issued,after the initial shock we all agreed how much better our new bikes were compared to the old boneshakers,I thoroughly overloaded mine every day,it was a joy to use,I'm thinking of getting another,great video, thanks
