I’m planning on doing [Cannock Chase Gravel X](https://gloriousgravel.com/product/gravel-sportives/cannock-chase-gravel-x/) as my first gravel sportive. I’m new to gravel riding and wanted some opinions on bike suitability.

I’ve got a [Ribble CGR Ti Sport](https://www.ribblecycles.co.uk/ribble-cgr-ti-105-r7100/) which has a Shimano 105 R7100 2×12 which I understand is really a road group set. I’ve got some knobblier tyres I plan to put on it particularly if the weather is wet. Do you think I’d be OK with this bike for this kind of event?

  1. There’s significant overlap between road groupsets and gravel (even though you’re seeing more and more racers go 1x). So don’t worry about that, plenty of people still running 2×12 and performing damn well. Put some 40s or 42s, whatever your tire clearance will accommodate, and go for it. If it’s wet and loose, a more aggressive tread or knob pattern will do wonders for you
