I just got a Prevail 3helmet, and it feels great on my big, oval-shaped noggin. It’s also super ventilated, which will keep things nice and cool, but as you see, I’m setting myself up for some massive Burns in the California sun.

Typically, under my helmet, I wear an old synthetic-fabric bandana folded over and tied. It works fine, but that particular bandana is really old, and Nike doesn’t make them anymore. The new ones either seem too small, flip through too much sun, or have other issues. I’ve tried Headsweats, but they are a little snug on my enormous skull.

Amy suggestions?

Cycling caps are purpose made for this. If you want something less bulky, or if you don’t like the visor, you can also try a Buff.

  2. After a long ride I often end up with the weirdest looking hair, compressed into bizarre stripes. I am picturing you with similarly weird “head tan lines” and it is making me giggle.

If the brim on the cycling cap bothers you, maybe try this:
