I have always wanted to try out single-speed life, and decided to do something about that this winter. It took awhile to source the frame I wanted, (Trek only offered horizontal sliding dropouts on the 2018-2019 crockett) but I was lucky and got a good price on one only 1 state over. The Checkpoint also has sliding dropouts but I went with the Crockett since this will be a gravel/CX rig. This is mostly a parts-bin bike, I had most of the components from collecting over the years. Picked up a set of TRP Hylex RS brakes which were surprisingly easy to get setup. Going to take a few iterations to figure out gearing combos, the 39/18T was decent for flat endurance rides but I will try out a 20T next for some more elevation.

This is the first time I have seen a trek and actually liked the way it looks. Good job with the build.

I don’t ride single-speed but seeing one with disc brakes front and rear is…different.
