What do you get when you combine an American roie a scotch connoisseur and a pastoral German Countryside a fun and unique way to experience Europe firsthand Meet Dave tart he’s an American living in Germany making his first attempt to complete the famed and grueling Century ride can he complete

His 100m challenge before leaving Europe will he push through and toast his victory join Dave as he Sprints coasts and climbs through the twists and turns Peaks and valleys of his inspirational Road cycling Adventure motivation for doing this honestly it’s just personal challenge I’ve wanted to do a sentury ride for a

Long time I have done a European sentury I’ve definitely got over 100 kilometers but I’ve never done 100 miles one of my favorite favorite channels gcn you know they talk about Century rides and it’s 100 km 100 miles but I’m going with 100 miles and I’ve

Always wanted to do it I signed up for the Big Damn 100 which is 100 mile bike ride at Little Rock but I deployed and then the time it just never worked out with work coming out here been writing a lot more and I was like you know why Not me and my friend Jimmy had talked about going down to to heidleberg and doing this ride to be honest it’s a pretty easy route it keeps us out of the hills in this area and kind of gets to the flats of the wine region down there

And then I can hit the river and it’s a little bit of an incline cuz we’ll be going up River technically but relatively flat well so when I introduce uh myself to a lot of people and I ask like what your hobbies are I say I like riding

Bikes and I like scotch I’ve gone up to ISA this last year I was up there for the whiskey Festival uh they had this jersey on sale and it was a no-brainer uh a one is also my favorite Scotch at the very end of the race we’ll uh plan

On pouring a drams enjoy the fact that it’s done you know I’ve only done three four hours on a bike at a time and that could would kind of range in mileage there’s no like formal training I’ve done ter like build up to this I have just been

Riding a lot lately I’m pumped uh there’s a little trepidation but I think it’s like that good the good Kind I love going through The Vineyards between Plateau that we live on here and then going to heidleberg uh that section is all through the wine region and I love going through The Vineyards and just looking down the roads I think I’m going to really enjoy That Hey Hey right now I think cleberg will be the the point of like I just got to be honest with myself it’s 2third of the way through this one3 left the weather actually looks pretty decent Tomorrow there’s a little spot for CH uh rain between 1 and 3:00 tomorrow if I leave heidleberg I’m going to do

It oh wow so we going for it Dave oh for sure yeah I’m just hoping this goes by quick It’s called My no excuse bike uh it’s an O Orca anything that is a problem is the riter it’s not the bike there’s no component on that that isn’t quality so I was able to put a little Personal Touch on it with a little saying on top

Which is called rivers of roads it’s one of my favorite songs in the world talking about motivation you know I always like to put that song on if I’m getting a little little tired been talking about the way things change my family lives in a different

State if you don’t know what to make with then we Are oh you never know on that long a distance cuz it is just different it’s just that time in the saddle you know you get other things start getting sore that you’re just not used to being a saddle that Long I think with anything when you’re trying to push yourself you just remind yourself why you’re doing it I think that will get me through a little bit of it of like I just really like riding my bike and even when I’m tired like I’m out here riding my bik just enjoy that

Moment I You 90 miles can to go let’s Go rivers and Ro Rivers till I reach you rivers and Rose rivers and Rose Riv till I reach You it’s hard to explain in exact words outside of it feels great it’s um yeah that was a lot of fun got to end with the uh at least a dram Vlog of one I feel like the cap off uh the best ride I’ve ever done got to do it with my favorite

Drink I think just the cycle friendly culture I know I mentioned that last time we talked but there’s bike PA everywhere and there was people even when it was raining today out and about on their bike so it’s just a part of the culture here there’s so many parts of Germany

That I would not have seen and I I say that even for Europe uh riding my bike places cuz you go through neighborhoods you go through the fields you go through you know really quiet areas that if you were just doing the big cities or driving from run place and you would you

Would never see it I mean when you’re on your bike you’re you’re feeling everything the wind the rain when cars are coming by people are coming by I feel like you’re definitely more um aware of what’s going on around you I think that adds a special lens to any

Place when you have that more physical connection to it than just being comfortable from one place to an next fun to push yourself and all the goals and stuff but I don’t know I just like riding my Bike
