We visit some of the the very best locations in County CLA County gway County Mayo County sgo and finally my favorite County donore hello and welcome back to road trip Island so it’s just me and Jazz now and we’re starting off continuing North on this wild Atlantic

Way trip we’re going to get the ferry across from tarbor and we’re going to go and do the loop Head trail and eventually head north until we hit the Cliffs of mohur once we’ve done that we’re going to head north through gway and following all the way hopefully up

To Don G there’s going to be some incredible beaches incredible Coastline loads of things to see and do so thank you for joining us again in this episode let’s just get on with It So this is completely typical of the Irish weather you got this beautiful sunshine to see behind me see the sunbeams I can probably not feel the warmth cuz I’m freezing and where we’re stood we’ve got this really big rainstorm coming in it’s kind of killing the visibility of the cliffs behind me

But it does make it dramatic color of the water down below at the foot of the cliffs is absolutely stunning a real nice turquoisey water and uh it’s one of them Irish Larks if you can handle the Irish temperament or whatever yeah you have to come and experience this place I think

Our visit is going to be a fleeting one but at least we’ve ticked it off the list what a place after our visit to the cliffs we pitched up at a campsite in duelan where we could still actually see the Cliffs of moho we just made our way through the

Boren UNESCO World heres Eco site I think I’ve got that right and we’re in goway uh so yeah very famous city I’m sure you’ve all heard the song The Ed sh and let’s going have a little walk around the Sea so we’re just making the drive from gway uh up towards gutin Bay about an hour into the drive and uh we’re passing through what I believe is the Kara National Park and yeah it’s starting to really remind me of some of the Epic Landscapes up in the Scottish Highland

Just going to quickly fly the Drone to to just give an example of how beautiful and uh wild it really Looks we finally made it to girtin Bay and dogs Bay now I’m saying both of them together because uh on one side you have girtin Bay and then if you cross the Sand Junes over the other side you have dogs Bay now the these are two of Ireland’s supposed best beaches we’ve

Ended up parking right at the top of gutin bay anyway we’re just going to get the dogs and we’re going to head down There The sun has come out and it just makes this place even more dramatic even more spectacular sand is quite comfortably the finest whitest powdery sand I’ve seen anywhere on this entire trip so far and as the Sun beats down on the back of my neck I’m kind of regretting not

Bringing my swimming shorts and going for a dip because this girtin Bay and dogs Bay just the other side is absolutely tremendous and a place that must be visited if you’re com to this part of the W Atlantic way it’s as simple as that I mean look at this our next stop

Was Manning Bay blueway an ideal swimming or snorkeling spot for us it offered a perfect location to enjoy a delicious cheese Toasting so we’re making our way around the sky Road Loop which is just North of Clifton and going into this I had no idea what to expect and we just pulled up to a Viewpoint I’m just going to show you exactly what we’re seeing because the drive so far has been beautiful and

Uh yeah I’m glad we actually did It we are camping for the night on a car park tonight which is a little bit different we’ve been on campsites for most of this trip so yeah we’ve just got this beautiful spot we’ve just had a lasagna we’re tarding the van up and we’re going to look forward to getting

In bed with a bit of below deck Jaz is neing me so I’m going to go I need a we and Jazz needs a Wei so I about get to it what so it’s our last full day of this part of the island trip I’m going

To come back so this episode is probably going to continue um but yeah we stayed at Klean Harbor just a car park overlooking the harbor and we’ve woken up to this beautiful sunshine this morning plenty of people catching the ferry to go to inish buffing I believe it’s called So we’ve made our way down the Renville Peninsula and we’re at Island View which is also known as Renville Beach and you don’t fully see it when you park up you can see a bit of the sand and as you turn and sort of face the right you get

This incredible sweeping view of the mountains the white sand the blue sea and in terms of a picturesque beach with dramatic scenery I go on about it so much on this channel and so much in these episodes this really is absolutely spectacular just an unexpected place

That I’ve read about I’ve done a bit of research on but I had no idea it was this beautiful tempted to actually go for a little diff here you Know so we’ve come to carore Abby with the intention of stopping for a coffee uh We’ve Ended up paying the6 each to come in as part of the admission there’s all sorts going on so far what I’ve seen this place is uh is Stunning our next couple of stops were the Kari Harbor Islands answer to the fs of Norway just around the corner from there was the Ashley Falls which unfortunately I didn’t fancy getting too close to in the torrential rain let’s continue this road Trip after exploring the scene town of Westport we drove all the way across the country to Dublin for our fairy home the next day Jaz needed to return for work and about 3 weeks later I came back with the dogs to continue the journey and finish what turned out to be the best

Video hello and welcome to the incredible aul Island so I might be looking a little bit jaded my hair my face might be looking a little bit greasy and that’s because I’ve actually been traveling pretty much all day so I caught the ferry this morning at half1

Arrived in Dublin at about 10 to1 and I’ve literally driven straight across the country and we’re now back in County Mayo in the beautiful akill island and so behind me you can see Gro Al’s tower now this is a famous landmark on the world Atlantic way which dates back to

The 15th century and was once home to the famous pirate grao [Applause] Mali So I’m just still overlooking Keem Bay with my mates Keem Bay by the way if you hadn’t noticed already is this remarkable place in the background now there are so many questions I need to ask maybe need to try and answer about this place that I don’t have answers to

First of all the road in so you follow a uh pretty dramatic Coastal road on the way here and if you’re afraid of heights probably not a good place to come you’ll be absolutely fine but there are some big old drops the views out to see from

The drive here absolutely 10 out of 10 spectacular then when you actually approach the beach on The Descent on the road it’s like you’re flying a drone when you’re actually in your car certainly feeling excited giddy like a little child at Christmas um pretty sad that that’s what gets me excited these

Days perks of growing up eh I woke up to what felt like the wetest day in history as I made my way North my first stop of today is the world nephin National Park now this National Park is home to some outstanding natural beauty including bogs Lakes mountains there’s some really

Nice walks that you can do here so that’s exactly what I’m going to do and I’m saying this as if I haven’t been sat in the van for the last 3 hours cu the rain’s been that Bad it’s a crying shame that it’s absolutely started pissing down again because I know the views out to AAL Island would have been beautiful instead you’ve got me looking like a big wet camouflage Telly tuby it’s the Irish weather for you it would have been absolutely beautiful had we had some

Better visibility that’s road trips for you you can never predict the weather just got to do what you enjoy and if it’s raining and you don’t enjoy it then don’t go and do it my next stop on the trip was the Wild and rugged mullet Peninsula place that most people skip if

You’re looking for somewhere that feels isolated and exposed to the elements then this location is for you oh yeah I almost ended up with the third C dog this guy was very keen to hop in and come with us I don’t think Archie and Jem would have been too happy about it Though I made a brief stop to check out this impressive piece of Coastline by the K Fields Visitor Center I then made my way to the Epic down Patrick head we’ve actually arrived at our last stop of the day now we’re at down Patrick head fortunately I’ve arrived a bit late

In the day we’ve only got 20 minutes of light left and on the walk up there just uh I just made an attempt to go up there Not only was it blowing about 60 70 km winds but uh the dogs aren’t actually allowed up there so I’ve literally got

Halfway and had to turn back yeah hopefully I can get up there tomorrow get some great photos show you guys how awesome it is let’s pick it up in the morning hopefully a better day and less rain who knows So there we have dunb sea stack uh which apparently is 65 M High and the unusual thing when you come here um is it tells you obviously to be careful of these fastly eroding Cliffs whatever you stood on it’s like this weird Mossy type Pete stuff and it’s really bouncy and it

Doesn’t make you feel safe at all and you know I’ve got a little bit of a fear of heights so being on a cliff Edge that’s like spongy uh is a little bit weird I also went to see the unusual down Patrick blow hole before venturing

To County slide go and the Ben borbon Forest walk so I’m just setting off on the Ben bban Forest walk I believe of three different Trails you can do here the one I’m about to do is 5.5k and the main highlight of doing this Trail is that you can get some incredible views

Over to Dore plus we’re going to get some pretty cool views of the mountain Itself just got back to the van uh fantastic War would highly recommend it if you are in this area um it’s funny just got back to the van and there was just like this massive smell of fish I was like what’s going on is it the van or something

Burnt on the engine and then you can see behind me there’s a fish fun supplies of fresh fish Frozen and smoked fish yeah the fish fun stinks so as you can see I’m stood in this uh magnificent Horseshoe Valley some of these mountains and the for ations of the mountains in

Particular just look ridiculous like it could be Lord of the Rings it’s the old abandoned building if you’ve done any Research into this place you’ll see many photos of that uh so you can get a call on for Instagram yeah it almost feels like cheating that you can just drive up

Here you don’t have to walk you don’t have to earn it you don’t have to put in the hard work um but what a spectacular Place So there you can see in the background Glen car water floor which was absolutely beautiful it’s a place that’s dead easy to get to it literally takes 2 3 minutes to get up here and the waterfall itself I mean what can I say it does remind me of something that

Should be in Indonesia so you might just be able to see behind me uh the beach here at strand Hill which is probably one of the last stops I’m going to make today and I’m here to experience one of the famous Irish seaweed baths I have no

Idea if I’m going to enjoy this or not I really don’t know what to expect I’ve just got into the room where I’m going to have this uh seaweed bath and what they’ve asked me to do first is uh go in the steam room for 2 minutes to open my

Por and then get into the bath how’s out look it’s funny because I’m not sure how much of this I’m actually going to edit and put in cuz it’s just a bit weird me sting a bath for seaweed I’m not sure what value you guys are getting from

This so there we go just got back to the van so that experience has just cost me €45 and this is the voer V seaweed bath house here in strand Hill you know what I would actually recommend it residue that comes out of the seaweed is so

Silky smooth on your skin and anyway I’m going to head into slgo town have a little walk around and then get some dinner at a place that I’ve been recommended called Hooked SLO is fantastic for Foodies and I definitely recommend the stop here once I’d finished my food I made my way to a great campsite at the nearby Ross’s point before settling down for the night so this beautiful Bay stretching right the way around it’s called strear

Beach so if you if you’ve watched normal people the BBC Drama Series this was one of the filming locations from that I believe there was three ships from the Spanish Armada that were wrecked here could probably become one of my favorite beaches in the whole of Ireland I waved goodbye to County slgo as I crossed the border into County Donal and made a brief stop at bundoran before exploring the town of Donal and it’s 15th century Castle next was a visit to the mammoth sleeve League Europe’s thirdd highest Sea Cliffs I do feel like

Ireland is the gift that keeps giving probably the place that has made my jaw drop the most the place that has just left me speechless and again it’s just one of them places until you come here and feel the scale and the size of this place you have no idea if it looks

Brilliant on a photo I’m hopefully going to fly the Drone in a minute and show you just being here to witness it it feels very special and yeah another place I’m so lucky to come and Visit so when you actually get to the top you can follow this path which goes all the way along the cliffs um but with Archie and my fear of heights I don’t think it’s going to happen so we found ourselves on yet another incredible stop on this wild Atlantic way we’ve come to

Malin bag which is home to Silver Strand when I first arrived here a few seconds ago I had to look twice because I thought my eyes were playing tricks on me the color of the water I’ll just show you cuz it’s easier I knew this day was going too well I was just about to start recording some audio with my little microphone and a big Glory came and I had to basically just get straight into a ditch I dropped the microphone and it’s somewhere in the car with my van but I’ve looked all

Underneath it and I can’t see it so I think it’s got to be somehow gone down where the seat Bel is and it’s down the bottom here I have no idea I’m going to take it off and have a look look down there can’t find it I took this panel

Off looked around there can’t find it so I’m just writing it off do get the moments in life where like this happens and you just go through Insanity despair self-pity it’s like the three five stages of grief whatever bearing in mind I’ve had all of this out cheers

Mate cuz it’s got a magnet on it it’s just stuck under you can’t write it can you after my absolute meltdown I made the drive to the wonderful asara waterfall after that this disaster up on the mountain my head completely went um but I just arrived here and there was a proper photographer

Getting a nice shot in the river trying to get these guys to pose for a photo is just impossible so absolutely beautiful place right come on Doggies Probably only the second time I’ve fully crashed my drone like absolutely decked it I was flying back from that waterfall and you would see the footage I didn’t even realize there’s these power cables just above me and luckily I was flying back quick enough that it hit the power

Cables Span in the Mad thing and landed in the Bog field if it was on the road it would have just smashed into a million pieces so yeah I’ve been over to the bug to retrieve it I’ve lost um lost some of the propellers which is not a

Problem cuz I’ve got a replacement which I’ve just fitted uh so hopefully it’s all good I won’t know till I fly it again tomorrow but it looks fine today started out great and it’s been going great and then I think this is the god of Island’s way of telling me that I

Need to just finish for the day and get to the Pub to back to make we my heart so I’ve had an evening in a draw and the Irish people will fully appreciate that I’ve said it that way but I’ve met Irish people from Northern Ireland I’ve met people from Australia and it’s so strange that you’re in this small village in the

Middle of nowhere surrounded by all these beautiful places and that you just click so quickly um these people weren’t from our generation but we’ve had such a good night and uh yeah it feels like I’ve made like lifelong friends I’ve just got to witness a traditional Irish locking

Where all of the traditional Irish singers were coming out with all of these Rhymes rhythms songs from yester year uh and it was quite beautiful it really was I know I’ve had a few points but this is the real Island and I’m so glad that I’ve got to witness it morning

It’s certainly is the day after the night before uh I am feeling a little bit worse for a today as you can tell by my croaky weird voice just been to the calf had like a full Irish and I’ve got a nice coffee so hopefully that’ll sort

Me out I’m going to get on the road now and hopefully get to some of these beautiful donore locations that I’m really looking forward to seeing today the first stop of the day was the beach at bumbag to get some photos of the bad Eddie shipwreck so I’m actually making my way

Over to the far side of the beach and there’s a reason I’m doing that I want to try and get a certain photo that I’ve seen on online and there’s a bit of a photography Workshop going on I was just speaking to the guy that runs it real

Friendly guy and uh he sent some of his students over this way to get a photo of the Shipwreck with the main selling point being the huge mountain in the background um I don’t know if I’ve got a lens long enough to show you exactly

What I mean but we’ll give it a try to be honest I’m absolutely Chu with that shot uh it definitely worked um so if you are a photographer got a slightly longer lens then come over to this side of the beach be and get the view back

Towards the uh the Shipwreck and the mountain me and the dogs are just sitting here taking in the view what a time to be alive unreal J so I’ve made the drive out to the mighty hornad this is a bit of a drive you can do with two main Lookout points my new road trip Island book I’m going to have a little QR code that you can just pop it in and it will show you exactly where

To go let me show you exactly what I’m looking at right Now so behind me is do Castle now uh it’s not known whether this was actually constructed in the 1400s or the 1500s and I was just reading the information board about the castle and someone’s wot in permanent marker this is the place where Brian mcfaden proposed to carry

Kona so whether that’s true or not I have no idea but if it is how interesting another cool thing about the castle is that it’s completely free to enter um you can just have a little walk around it’ll only Take 5 or 10 minutes so a huge time consuming thing so I’ve

Made my way to probably what’s going to be my penultimate stop of the day and we’re at down in’s Beach yeah apparently you can drive your car and park your van if you really wanted to okay just to clarify you can’t park on here overnight I’ve just read the sign but you can

Pitch up for pretty much most of the day um so yeah if you want a beach day right next to you van this is certainly the place to come so I’ve made my way to the final stop which you can see behind me is the faned Head Lighthouse and I’m

Squinting because we’re in Golden hour it’s absolutely glorious if you did want to go inside uh check the opening times they do various tours that you can pay and going and explore as a guy that loves photography as you know this place is absolutely outstanding every stop

That I’m making I’m falling more and more in love with donore uh and just Ireland in general so lucky to be Here so I’ve been St here for probably the best part of an hour fully enjoyed this place and without a doubt one of the best sunsets we’ve had on this entire trip if you’ve enjoyed this road trip Island series can ask a massive favor hit the like button on YouTube leave a

Comment below letting me know what your favorite part has been uh here’s some of the cringy photos that I’ve just Took we ended up staying in a free park up near portalon beach which was actually the first stop the very next Day so I’ve made the drive to the glenv National Park there’s a number of things you can do here including a number of trails around the lock if you want to go and visit glenv Castle you have to actually catch a shuttle bus from The Visitor Center here which unfortunately

Doesn’t allow dogs so mean the dogs won’t be going there cuz it’s like a good 4 or 5K walk each Direction so instead what we’re going to do is just have a little walk around the nature trail Here I made the drive to the inish show in Peninsula where my first stop was the interest in for Military Museum set on a dramatic piece of Coastline so we’ve just ascended the M more GA now this is arguably one of the most beautiful parts of the in sharim 100 and it’s this mountain pass that involves these twisty turny beautiful roads this guy is probably loving it on his bike good timing and there’s actually a little Discovery Point here

Which I’m going to go and have a quick look at before we then descend in that direction towards leaning I’ve come to Tuller strand which is part of this beautiful in showing 100 rout and it can only really be described as a picture perfect Beach it is the definition of a picture perfect Beach We’ve arrived at pollen Beach it’s also known as b lifing beach now this is yet another pristine 2.5 km stretch of white sand sweeping mountains in the background and the one thing to note here is there are some huge waves strong currents rip ties so it’s not really a

Swimming Place definitely a great place to walk the dog or stretch the legs just on the car part they’ve got a little Book Exchange Library so the idea is you put a book in and take a book out and it just so happens I’ve got one of my uh

Road trip whales books lying around so I’m going to go and swap it River Monsters I’ve made my way to Five Finger Strand and and this is just a little parking area so it can get pretty tight here especially in the summer months because of its wild and rugged position

On pretty much the side of this Inon Peninsula the beach here is unsuitable for swimming so please don’t go in I’m just about to get my drone out and show you exactly what this place is all About so I finally made it to Malin head now this is the most norly point in the whole of Mainland Island and it’s absolutely Bonkers I think just three or four weeks ago I was down in mizen head which is pretty much as far south you

Can go in Ireland it’s rugged it’s windy but by gosh is this place absolutely Stunning I have one of the smuggest grins on my face we’ve arrived at kigu Bay a very windy tight narrow road to get down to the actual car park so if you do come here just bear that in mind be careful looking at this beach with the backdrop The Cliffs it’s just

Absolutely incredible it wouldn’t be out of place somewhere in the Philippines or Thailand and even if you’re not a beach person I know this world Atlantic way is Pat full of beaches and all I keep going on about is Beaches but this beach really is naturally beautiful and

Something that you should come and look at Oh so I’m stood at the last stop of my entire trip this beach behind me is stru Beach that right there is inish own head you might be able to just make out the rainbow which is out to see and then just to the left is the iconic stru

Lighthous usually at the end of my videos I do this little section on how I feel about Ireland what were my favorite Parts how does it compare with other road trips it’s such a Bittersweet thing coming to the end of this trip because for the last five six weeks I’ve been

Exploring so many of these beautiful peninsulars so much of this Coastline and it’s so hard for me to just summarize that up in a short brief period that you guys are going to keep listening to me for for me Ireland has been by far the best road trip I’ve ever

Done um there’s no question in it just the sheer amount of things to see places to go and visit beaches the coastline mountains the pubs The Villages the people it just absolutely has everything fny when people say they visit somewhere and it captures a bit of their soul or

They’ve left a piece of their soul in a certain location for me isand has completely captured my soul in a way that I can’t even describe so the best piece of advice I could give you is focus on an area if you come in for a

Week if you come for two weeks focus on a specific area whether it’s Cork and carry whether it’s Mayo slgo dunal whether it’s Northern Ireland there’s one thing that is definitely going to happen when you’ve been to Ireland once I say this about a lot of the places
