I knew going into this that the chain breaker was a POS, it was part of a dirt cheap no-brand chain repair kit I got off amazon a couple years ago, was already a little bent out of shape and had some broken plastic bits. But the threads crumbling to dust under load was not how I imagined it going out.
Anyways, time to buy a better chain breaker I guess.
